We all know where this is headed

They win one of the next two. And, win out when Romo gets back. Story of the year coming..

The saddest part about watching your season end in October is knowing that when Romo comes back we're going to win some meaningless games.

So we get the gut wrench of watching this season come undone before it really even started, without the compensation of a high draft pick at the end of the tunnel.

And Garrett will keep his job for "finishing strong".

The saddest part about watching this season go down the drain is once the games become meaningless the Cowboys might decide to sit Romo not wanting to risk another injury that could affect his 2016 season. In 2010 he could have come back but because the Cowboys had no shot at the playoffs the team decided to keep him out the rest of the season. We're finding out this season just how much Romo means to this team so we'll have to see if the Cowboys would dare risk him in several meaningless games. Neither Weeden or Cassel will be the backup next season we can't stay afloat with either one so the Cowboys might decide to give Kellen Moore a look to see if they can win a game with him. It will be interesting to see how the team handles the remainder of the season once the team is mathematically eliminated.

As bad as the NFC East is the Cowboys might be able to stay alive until early Dec if 7-8 wins takes the division but they're going to have to decide once they're eliminated if it's smart to risk Romo's health the rest of the season. Two years ago he injured his back in week 16 which could have jeopardized part of his 2015 season. I would rather find out in some meaningless games this season if we can win a game with Kellen Moore than to go into next season with him and some other veteran castoff and end up in the same sinking boat we're in this season not having a QB who can help win us a game if Romo were to be lost again. When you consider Romo's age and the fact that he's coming off back to back seasons with injuries he's too valuable to this team to risk his health in games that have no bearing on the season.

Philly game is still very important. We need to beat Washington twice later this year when Romo comes back. That puts us at 4-1 in the division (we're currently 2-1). If we beat Philly next week, we're 5-1 in the division and own any and all tie-breakers. We're gonna be a few games out when Romo returns. It'll make things much easier if we only need to finish tied to win the division.

Anything is possible !!! The dream lives on !!!

Unfortunately... I want to say we don't deserve to win the division considering we just dropped 5 straight. But this division is so bad that I don't think anyone deserves to be in the playoffs. At least have the team with the best chance to make some noise in the playoffs (us, healthy) win it.

You have it right. Garrett might be a pretty good QB position coach but fails pretty quickly as a head coach. He's
certainly no Parcells or Bellicheat. Not many good, winning coaches to be had right now and Jerry just planted his
flag in a 5 year losing contract....

I am confused, last year no complaints about the coaching staff. This year we have a couple of key injuries and no viable back-ups yet it is Garrett's fault. NO blame goes towards the OC who is calling the plays. Now I do think the HC should step in and ask the OC to make some adjustments. More screens, put our WR's in motion or different formations, something. But how is T-Will or Beasley not having the ability to get open the HC fault? How is not having a back-up QB that resembles a NFL caliber QB, the HC fault? How is letting your leading rusher go to a division rival the HC fault? Did Garrett fumble the punt against the Giants or miss DMC who was wide open underneath? Surely it was Garrett who has dropped at least 3 INTs that hit him directly in the hands. I definitely know it was Garrett that let Harris return a kickoff to retake the lead.....

Come on folks stop blaming Garrett for everything, yeah he should have called a TO in OT against the Saints but all this bashing isn't warranted in my opinion. Ask the Cardinals how well they did w/o Palmer or the Steelers what happens when Big Ben goes down ....

Like the Lions, Browns, Jags and Bucc's do every year? How is that working out for them?

It's a chance you take. You hope the organization is better than those. It wasn't too long ago that this entire board was singing praises of JJ, McClay, Garrett...........
This maybe our chance to pick a successor to Romo. Every move is a calculated risk. Draft is a risk in itself. You use this season as an aberration and hope the high pick give you a jolt.

I've seen the post Romo era and it's not pretty.

Dallas played not to lose, instead of playing to win !!!!

All the games are very important our margin for error has become very slim at 2-5. If we beat Philly next week we're 3-1 in the division because even with Romo I'm not giving us both Washington games they're a scrappy team who we split with last season. Even when Romo returns there's no gimme's on the schedule not with the team we have this season. The only slim shot at the playoffs the Cowboys have is to win the division. We're currently 2-4 in the conference and both the Saints and Seahawks hold tiebreakers so a wildcard is out of the question. Romo knows he'll have his work cut out for him when he returns.

So, when romo come back, do we espose him to needless pounding even though the playoffs are a pipe dream?
A dilemma for the braintrust, such as it is, of Jerra, Stephen etc.

It's definitely depressing, but I don't believe seasons end in October. I also don't see who's going to ultimately take the NFCE yet, so, there's that.

Christmas is also coming too, does that mean its going to be great for everyone or does it mean its just coming? The season is over, going to your enemies and asking them to help you isnt telling me how good we really are, it just means we need other teams to do something so we feel better about ourselves. Yea great, Dallas is staring at another bad season but lets talk about how weneeded the GIants to lose to make us feel better about ourselves.

Sorry you feel bad about things. I still like the team and think it's capable of playing great football before it's all said and done. Not just good football. Great football.

That doesn't mean I'm saying that definitely will happen. But I'm glad the other NFCE teams are losing because otherwise the postseason would be an impossibility and right now, it's still not. We're out of effective wildcard contention the first week of November. That sucks. But the division is still up for grabs. I win in PHI and TB and a Giants loss v. NE, and we're not looking so rough. You can say the season is over all you want. It's not. It looks really grim, but it's not over.

Yep. I totally agree. Our wildcard dreams are over. We need to focus on the division because that's our only shot. The NFC doesn't have any great teams this year, but they have more solid teams than I ever remember them having. The entire NFC South looks solid right now (even the Bucs). The entire NFC West outside of maybe San Fran. Even the Vikings look solid. (Note: By solid I mean capable of winning 7-10 games). It's very unlikely all those teams (besides 1) finishes with a worse record than us and/or loses any tie-breakers so that we can win the wildcard. It's fairly likely no team in the NFC East finishes with more than 8 wins, and despite how awful our season has been, we do have the lead in the division records.
