Yes Sir!!
I want the first two words stated prior to an offensive guard meeting be: Carter and Parker...with hostility.
Our offense line worry is the 8 games that Tyron Smith misses due to injury. That pulls Tyler Smith out to left tackle and we end up with Farniok? as the LG.
Really? Will they catch the measles and mumps also?

Philly widened the gap between them and us, we have collectively went backwards.

The thing that bothers me the most is that Dak showed everyone he is never going to win a championship, it's just never going to happen, the guy isn't good enough and can be a downright liability even. You don't reach for a defensive tackle or a tight end because you "need" those players when you have a Hendon Hooker or a Will Levis still on the DAMN BOARD!!! Maybe they don't pan out but you still have to try. You don't get those opportunities often when you are constantly picking 20-27.

Just a really bad draft and a decent free agency so IMO it's a wash. We are essentially the same team just a year older. Meanwhile Philly adds a Jalen Carter and a Nolan Smith to a stacked roster that has a QB good enough to win it all.
One is never too old to learn and I functioned as a guard at a County Jail at age 73. I made all of my take downs and responding assistances that were needed. Mental and physical attributes don't suddenly drop off a mountain side. Focus can always be improved...and that goes for Dak Prescott.

We should see more of that in a Westcoast offense in general right?

But really, with the variety of options we have. Putting Pollard, Cooks, Ceedee, and TE's on the field along with a mix of Turpin and Deuce should provide no shortage of creative options in terms of screen passes, jet sweeps, and other wrinkles that push/pull the defense out of position.
I'm so uncomfortable with Dak throwing screens. I know it has to be done, but he really needs to work on them, and the play designs need to be less obvious, and the blocking needs to be better.

Listening to the Radio..

Slater is saying that McCarthh doesn’t really care about having a top ranked offense and if our offense is somewhere in the middle of the league rankings he’s ok with it.

He wants to field the best defense possible..

Very disappointing to hear that imo and really makes me think the team and McCarthy are out of touch.

Only thing that makes it make sense is they just want Dak to do less.

That not what he really said. Slater is never good at passing along the message. He wants to limit mistakes and protect the defense. MM believes our defense is elite and the play calling is the reason why we lost to the 49ers. If anything he putting the handcuffs on Dak’s decision making.

I love the Sluggo rt and putting Pollard in motion and sending him on a fly rt!.
I would love a series of plays worked off a setting with Pollard, Turpin, Deuce, Cee Dee, and Cooks all at once. The run and screen combinations would be a nightmare to cover and deep pass plays would be the killer.

With Dak, we need the defense to do it!

I loved 3 of our first 4 picks were defense.

I was hoping for a guard instead of the TE. We had the pick of any G in the whole draft and we passed! This TE better be a player!!!
I think Avila was off the board at our pick.

How did they widen the gap?
How is their roster stacked?

They lost 8 players, 7 of them starters. They had a good draft...on paper .... Do you think nearly the entire Georgia defense is gong to be better against NFL talent to start out. Maybe in a few years. But not in 2023.
Especially since they lost both OC & DC as well.

On paper, they did not get better, we closed the gap or became better. Since we were so close with them last year.

I say the same for SF, lost OC & DC and they lost more players than the Brough in overall. And Mel Kiper said they had the worst draft of any team. So they did not improve upon us there.

I will get blasted by our Eagles and 49ers lovers on here, but what else is new. I don't care. I stand my ground.

Many have different options....mine is that with MM not trying to push Dak's stats like KM did and being more consistent with play calling...along with keeping some key players, picking up a couple of great pieces and having a draft that filled needs....we're better.
:starspin::thumbup: you are not allowed to have a positive take on an offseason. You will get banned and stoned for it..lol

the 40 new threads starting with "why didn't we address..... "

gets old.

On paper, we are better than we were last year due to guys like Cooks and Gilmore and some of the defensive pieces we draft, but theme-wise, I don't really see how we constructed a 'super bowl winning team.'

We still have a fundamental O-line problem and that will show when we play against the teams we lose against like the 49ers or Eagles who have a super tough defense/d-line. It's going to be hard to get the ball out to those receivers or get the running game going when our O-line is getting beat up. Eagles just shored up on pass rushers. 49ers always gave us a problem defensively. I'm sorry, but a blocking tightend doesn't solve that problem.

We're also supposedly going to be a running team, but our draft doesn't say that. We're about to do with Tony Pollard what we did with Felix Jones, which drastically reduced Felix Jones effectiveness. Remember, first couple of years in the league, Felix was averaging some ridiculous amounts of yards per carry like 8 and then 6. Once he was utilized a lot more and our o line declined in effectiveness, that dropped drastically. Tony Pollard getting a lot more carries than he did last year, especially coming off of a leg injury is going to reduce his explosiveness. We didn't draft a guy in Deuce that is someone who is going to be able to split carries with him 50/50. We got a guy that can do splash plays every once in a while.

We're pretty much constructed to beat up on the easy teams like always, but when it comes to the tough teams, it's going to be questionable.

We didn't draft bad players by no mean. The problem is, thematically, I have ZERO idea what we're trying to go for. We didn't build a hard-nosed, running team. We just built for more finesse. A blocking tight end and tiny rb instead of a big O-lineman and bell-cow back doesn't scream hard-nosed running offense to me.

The Mazi pick was great and solved a need. I'm not sure what we were doing with the other picks though, theme-wise. We were just replacing guys we already drafted a couple of years prior or shoring up in an area where we are already deep with the LB, CB and DE picks. Like we literally drafted Damone Clark and Jabril the past couple of drafts, yet we spend a premium pick on Overshown.

We improved our blocking from the TE position but if we are dedicated to running, it would be much more effective to upgrade the O-line. We just took Hendershot and Ferguson last year and yet we draft yet another TE.

Just like the Amari Cooper trade last year, several of us were screaming we had a big problem, but we were told it was ok and we saw when it mattered, the Amari hole played itself out in the form of more Dak Prescott interceptions when the receivers aside from CeeDee couldn't get any separation.

This team is just us doubling down on last year instead of really fixing the key holes. They admitted the Amari Trade was bad by getting cooks, but we better not go into the season with our O-line looking like it does right now or Dak and the Rbs are going to get beat up by the Eagles and 49ers. We also have a huge problem at the kicker position, which was one of the reasons for the Dak interception. Instead of kicking the field goal because we didn't trust our kicker, we had him throwing it more.

In a vacuum, the picks were not bad players, but I'm not sure where we really improved? Our key flaws still exist and they will show up against the better teams in the playoff.
