Such a simple way of viewing things.

For starters, injuries happen. Losing someone like Parsons, Diggs or a few OL could quickly ruin a season.

Not to mention we have a much different schedule this year (31st SOS last year) and a different play caller on offense.
correct, same thing can happen to all teams, lose key payers and if you get to play those teams without their key players you have better shot at winning because the narrative changed on the strength of that tea,..happns all year and then that SOS is moot.. look at the eagles had the by far easiest path to the sab meting NY and a hobbled SF team.. then turn around an got beat by KC RBBC and dint get sack, what happened to that allegedly vaunted DL/front 7? wasn't scry to KC who had group of nobody's at back, a jag of a WR core, and hobbled qb .. why did they lose? they were overrated is why, its who they played all year not the team the players especially at QB who were out when they played them. Not saying the eagles suck but for sure who they played when they played them helped a lot, case in point playing game 1 against rush vs Dak.. Dak beats the eagles far more then he loses, Hurts has never beat dak.. Ironic we had to play a SF team with full starters , the eagles didn't we could also easily beat NY and or MN.... again its who you pay when you play them not the LOGO or last years SOS claim..

No, they didn't. Signed Edoga via free agency. Drafted O-Tackle Asim Richards (who is fundamentally sound but needs to get stronger) who will be moved to O-Guard. Starting 5 Olinemen should all be healthy by the time the season starts. Plenty of backups for all 5 positions. The Oline is set.
And we should get a healthy Matt Walentzko back for his shoulder surgery.

Their draft strategy was pretty transparent and it was all about the run: improving our run game and our run defense.

It is no coincidence that they drafted the best run stopper in Mazi and Viliami Fehoko who had a 99 percentile run stop grade and 47 TFLs over the last three years. Overshown is a sure tackler and lauded for his run stopping ability & could act as a QB spy with his range.

Schoonmaker will be the best blocking TE we have had in sometime and gets good separation in the pass game. Likely wont be a big YAC guy, but fills the role of a safe target on 3rd downs to replace what Shultz did for us. I think we'll see him as the man in 11 personnel most of the time adding Ferg or Hendershot in 12. I don't think the FO trusts the current TE's blocking.

On paper, we are better than we were last year due to guys like Cooks and Gilmore and some of the defensive pieces we draft, but theme-wise, I don't really see how we constructed a 'super bowl winning team.'

We still have a fundamental O-line problem and that will show when we play against the teams we lose against like the 49ers or Eagles who have a super tough defense/d-line. It's going to be hard to get the ball out to those receivers or get the running game going when our O-line is getting beat up. Eagles just shored up on pass rushers. 49ers always gave us a problem defensively. I'm sorry, but a blocking tightend doesn't solve that problem.

We're also supposedly going to be a running team, but our draft doesn't say that. We're about to do with Tony Pollard what we did with Felix Jones, which drastically reduced Felix Jones effectiveness. Remember, first couple of years in the league, Felix was averaging some ridiculous amounts of yards per carry like 8 and then 6. Once he was utilized a lot more and our o line declined in effectiveness, that dropped drastically. Tony Pollard getting a lot more carries than he did last year, especially coming off of a leg injury is going to reduce his explosiveness. We didn't draft a guy in Deuce that is someone who is going to be able to split carries with him 50/50. We got a guy that can do splash plays every once in a while.

We're pretty much constructed to beat up on the easy teams like always, but when it comes to the tough teams, it's going to be questionable.

We didn't draft bad players by no mean. The problem is, thematically, I have ZERO idea what we're trying to go for. We didn't build a hard-nosed, running team. We just built for more finesse. A blocking tight end and tiny rb instead of a big O-lineman and bell-cow back doesn't scream hard-nosed running offense to me.

The Mazi pick was great and solved a need. I'm not sure what we were doing with the other picks though, theme-wise. We were just replacing guys we already drafted a couple of years prior or shoring up in an area where we are already deep with the LB, CB and DE picks. Like we literally drafted Damone Clark and Jabril the past couple of drafts, yet we spend a premium pick on Overshown.

We improved our blocking from the TE position but if we are dedicated to running, it would be much more effective to upgrade the O-line. We just took Hendershot and Ferguson last year and yet we draft yet another TE.

Just like the Amari Cooper trade last year, several of us were screaming we had a big problem, but we were told it was ok and we saw when it mattered, the Amari hole played itself out in the form of more Dak Prescott interceptions when the receivers aside from CeeDee couldn't get any separation.

This team is just us doubling down on last year instead of really fixing the key holes. They admitted the Amari Trade was bad by getting cooks, but we better not go into the season with our O-line looking like it does right now or Dak and the Rbs are going to get beat up by the Eagles and 49ers. We also have a huge problem at the kicker position, which was one of the reasons for the Dak interception. Instead of kicking the field goal because we didn't trust our kicker, we had him throwing it more.

In a vacuum, the picks were not bad players, but I'm not sure where we really improved? Our key flaws still exist and they will show up against the better teams in the playoff.
First off I don't think we're really planning on increasing the # of running plays. While I think McCarthy likes to be deceptive (not a knock on him), I don't think that's what he was talking about. A lot of us were complaining on the choice of the running plays. We were pretty close to a 50/50 pass/rush team already.

Pollard should get the majority of plays, but Duece wasn't a limited use RB from what I've read about him. They both should also be useful in the upcoming WCO passing game.

I watch other teams games too. Am I "hooked" on those teams also?

I watch all sports and sometimes just for background noise. Does that make me "hooked"?

What a horrible logic you have. We're all not "hooked" the way you have been hooked.
It actually does. And the way you cry and whine it shows you care so much. So yea, hooked. It's alright to say it.

I believe someone that constantly says things they don't really believe is much more unhealthy.
Send me your zip code....I have a friend that can recommend a good therapist.....buy a teddy bear and cuddle....be safe and have a great week.

They have more weapons and healthier options than last year with the exception of Pollard being questionabe but we will see in TC. But the defense certainly improved with Gilmore and Mazi.

I still wish G was addressed. I think Richards will get moved to G so maybe that was the thought behind the pick. The Scott pick and trade is so bad there has to be something to it. I expect them to add a camp casualty too so the off season isn’t quite done.

All that said they got their run stuffer. Haven’t had a guy like this in years. Can’t wait to see what they do with Vaughn. I have visions on Sproles dancing in my head. They will still need to address RB but maybe they have enough for this season. Next year’s draft looks like a lot of secondary guys.

Can’t wait until July. Team looks solid. Entering the season with the best defense they have had in forever.

Where does this pass happy padding the QB stats come from about Moore?

Last season, the Cowboys ranked 19th in pass attempts and 6th in rush attempts.

The reason Chris Peterson allowed him to call his own plays at BSU was he was just as likely to call a run as his own number passing the ball.

Before we throw stones at any OC, execution must be considered as none of them have penalties, turnovers, drops, errant passes or missed blocks in their playbooks.

Moore was an easy scapegoat and McC’s comments about running the ball misleading. He never called the run/pass ratio Moore did last season in any season in GB.

Guess I could say the same about you and that is not a left-handed slam against the QB but an observation about play calling vs play execution.

Pappy saw it just as you did but I am not responsible for how it is interpreted by the reader.

I mentioned missed blocks, drop and penalties and can add missed tackles and missed turnover opportunities as well.

I do not blame the QB for that playoff loss as I haven’t any of the others he‘s played in. They were team losses.

I saw it as a reasonable assessment of our offense and the Moore situation by your good self.
Please do not slander my "Like" based on the biggest HOMER on this site who is drinking Jerry's Kool-Aid (probably spiked with vodka) daily and spends half of his time here benched for his insulting behavior.
