We are committing way too many penalties

Who said anything about an excuse? Offensive penalties correlate inversely to points. It is something OC's and line coaches can and do work on.

So you believe we should commit no penalties at all? My point is, penalties will happen. You have to overcome them.

For all the good he does, it's well past time for Witten to end the false starts he's been getting every week for the many years of his career. They're just not worth the risk for the fraction of a second he might gain in the bargain.

But it was the penalties that change the momentum of the game.

The false start by Witt and then holding by Free on our first possession in the second half was huge. We were at the midfield and we needed to score. After the penalties we were faced with 3rd and 20 plus yards and then punted.

That was a turning point in the game.

Agreed. Though I think we had more in the Philly game & managed to pull that off. Granted, we had Romo for a portion of that game.
