With the injury to Romo, it's safe to say we are going to see what Garrett is made of and what he is capable of this season.

He's just a good young rookie QB this time around, the best offensive line in the NFL, and a great set of offensive weapons.

If he goes less than 8-8 this season, no matter the circumstance, I think this might be it.

Frankly, if this team is going to start fresh with Dak in 2017, I'd like to see it down with a new coach.

Disclaimer: I know this a pre-mature thread.

We get to find out sooner than later. Dak looks the part so let's hope he is what he appears to be

I really hoped Romo could hold up for another year, if for no other reason that to give Dak a year to watch and learn and acclimate.

Some people choose greatness. Others have it thrust upon them. What matters most is what he does when the lights come in.

Oh No! No Romo! I type this while still in shock. The reality of the situation is my expectations with Romo at the helm were fairly high. Without him, let's just say there's a whole lot of doubt. The doubt may not be where some others are doubting. My doubt is in the coaches Offensive Philosophy and adaptability...or lack thereof.

We heard over the summer that Stephen Jones assessment of the 2015 Cowboys was poor from top to bottom. He specifically talked about waiting for the savior (Romo) to come back instead of playing to the strengths of the players that were available. The offense was kept Romo-friendly. The truth is, with Weeden and Cassel, we should have won at least a couple more games. That thought raises this question: "Are the offensive coaches too smart for their own good, too stubborn, or just not as good as we thought?"

With that question raised, it is time to get fully behind who we have. Dak has shown poise and has the team believing in him. He has taken care of the football for the most part. There is now an opportunity to utilize his strengths. The coaches need to show their ability to adapt and slightly modify their playbook to Dak's strengths.

The run game is obviously strong. Ride it; milk the clock. From there, it's time to study the Seahawks during Wilson's rookie year. They should also study the Commander's in Griffin's rookie year...after all Morris was the running back then. Garrett and Linehan don't need to totally revamp the offense. With Zeke and Morris, a ton of damage can be done on the ground. With 82 and 88 still on the field, they should be able to move the ball some through the air. But a handful of zone read plays should be successful with this run game. They need to actually give the ball to Lucky as he goes in motion on the end around. Shoot, why not give it to 88 on an end around. Have some designed roll-outs to help protect Dak and give him the option to use his legs.

It's time for the "Red-headed Genius", who went to Princeton, to show what he can do. I hope they learned from last year. I pray the Cowboys are successful. We have the offensive talent to to very successful. But, will these coaches adapt their philosophy and truly give this team the best opportunity to succeed...?

Let's see, has not win anything here. Needs Romo to look competent. Romo goes down, can only salvage one game out of 12. How much more evidence do you need he is a poor coach? He may be a player's coach and respected by them but actual coaching/preparation, this whole staff is poor. This entire franchise hinged on one single man (Romo). When he went down, it collapsed. That's all coaching there.

Agree completely and unfortunately we will now see Jerry say that JG needs more years to groom younger players. It's a never ending excuse. Was hoping to see limited injuries so we could see if 2014 was the outlier...it was

If I recall....Chip Kelly....yes the same Chip Kelly everyone on this board likes to laugh at. I think In his FIRST year as a NFL head coach...Mike Vick gets hurt...and he insert Nick Foles. Yes the same Nick Foles many on this board like to laugh at. I think they went on to win double digit games AND...AND the division. But I know many people will not remember that when Jerry, and Jason, and the RKG speeches, and the PROCSS speeches get rehashed. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

You cannot attach anything remotely similar to this in the NFL. Booger will do what he wants and this presents him with yet another excuse if he wants to keep Garrett and his staff. He and Son blamed the coaching staff for the failure of the backups and made no changes. That should answer the question.

The QB is out 4-8 weeks or real football, the best DE is out for 4, another for 10 and the best MLB is out for 10 and none of this is Garrett's fault. He will be the beneficiary of this and not be held accountable except for "did they play hard for Jason". And that will be Booger's sell and he wants Garrett to bring along the next franchise QB. Garrett's biggest problem is that many are thinking Dak is for real and he is for pretend, he's still games away from real but he does look promising unless he just gets trashed this season.

I like Dak. I like what I've seen. But, I ain't seen nuthin yet.

I think the 1st half vs Seattle showed what Jason is made of.

Jason just fell into greatness. He'll be alright!
