We better look at an alternate 4th/1ft play

The bigger question is why run that stupid play in the first place. We had a 14 point lead and good field position, and we run a play that loses 13 yards on first down? Idiotic.

Get rid of the wildcrap

we have failed miserably with Barber on real short 4th down plays...
why is JG so stubborn that he refuses to try something else
?

Nothing wrong with the call it is up to the Olineman to get a push on short yardage and in this game having Haynesworth really paid off as he was able to get a big push up the middle.

They need to run dives on 4th & inches not counters. Barber needs to run behind a fullback straight behind the guards. He stops after the handoff giving time for defenders to hit him. He is extremely slow hitting the hole sometimes.

what happened to the pitch to felix and running the ball outside

Of course my "fact alert" was alluding to the fact that Barber is so slow to the hole. I'm all for using Felix and/or Choice in short yardage situations. Not only are they much quicker to the line and stand a good chance of picking up the first down, they have the speed and the wiggle to bust it long if they get through the line. Barber doesn't. Our o line has done a poor job in these situations as well, but the play has a much better chance of succeeding if the back hits the play much quicker than Barber can.

I'm generally against pitches outside on very short yardage situations (just don't like going backwards when you only need a yard or less), but considering how poorly we're executing in those situations, maybe we should consider it.

The Cowboys have had a player or two who have done this in the past. I believe Herschel Walker did it once.
Dan Reeves was a master and we threw a half back pass for a touchdown in a Super Bowl against the Broncos.

Newhouse to Golden Richards.

Our running game is just flat-out terrible. The only play that works is a draw. I haven't felt this bad about the running game since Hambrick was the starter.

Richie Anderson was good at it. Being left handed threw in an extra wrinkle.

I hate pulling in that situation. Let them just plow forward and get the yard.

Yet another case of Garrett getting cute, and being arrogant.

And don't run behind our smallest lineman Kosier......find Bigg's big *** and follow it. :laugh2:

Even though I was hollering for Austin to throw the ball away during that wildcat play I suspect you truly don't want your WR trying to think like a QB when he doesn't do so on a regular basis.

Next thing you know you have a fumble.

The main dissapointment from last night were those 4th down failures.

The Oline needs to do better but on the first one MBIII just flat out missed the hole. I was sitting directly behind that play and he inexplicably ran to the left when the hole was straight in front of him.

And I have just the alternate.

Ratliff. :D
Just line him up behind Romo and watch out. I bet he could get you a yard.
