My argument remains .. the NFL uses total yards as the measure for rankings. And there’s a reason why.NO! You pretended to speak for the NFL by saying, "the NFL disagrees". You don't speak for the league.
No again, you are missing the point. All points matter, whether it's a result of gaining yards or not. Total points scored is a greater stat than total yards.
That’s for everyone to decide for themselves. That doesn't make "yards gained" the greater stat. There will never be a greater stat than "points scored".
But you have to admit you would rather get more points than your opponent than get more yards. If you win the scoring battle you will more than likely win the yardage battle too however, if you win the scoring battle but lose the yardage battle, who cares? You still win the game.My argument remains .. the NFL uses total yards as the measure for rankings. And there’s a reason why. You certainly can argue why they do. I’m just saying I agree with it.
I’m not discounting how vital scoring points is.
That’s for everyone to decide for themselves.
But my point remains if it’s the measurement the NFL uses for rankings I believe it should be the barometer .
Now if you want to use points scored to support your argument or narrative that’s fine but it’s a subjective stance.
Totally agree. And why these other contributing factors weigh in.But you have to admit you would rather get more points than your opponent than get more yards. Yes sir and why these other contributing factors are vital to the results of the game. How? Yards do not equal points, TD and FG equal points. Heck with a great defense they can set up the offense where they only travel a short field and put up points.

It's not subjective at all. The point of the game is to win... which is the team that scores the most points. That’s for everyone to decide for themselves.

Absolutely !!True, they put up the score on the score board not the yards. lol
Absolutely !!
But total yards is what the NFL uses to measure rankings in the NFL. This argument is getting derailed from its initial intent. I was just arguing why the NFL uses total yards and that I support it as the official measurement in rankings.
I’m Not arguing that point .It's not subjective at all. The point of the game is to win... which is the team that scores the most points.
Again, I’m not arguing that point.Sorry I have watched a lot of games over the years and it is not uncommon for the losing team to put up more yards in a game. No one cares if at the end of the game we put up more yards bottom line did you put up more points. Winning statistical battle in a game is all well and fine but does not always equate into a win. Points you score and points you allowed in a game 100% of the time indicates who won.
All true. However, Pts allowed is a team stat, and isn't accurate in rating D's. Yds allowed is semi-accurate, as every yard allowed is given up by the D. The same is not true about points.Yards do not equal points, hell I have watched bad cowboy teams move the ball from the 20 to the 20 and end up with 3 or no points. For me the biggest stat is points scored and points allowed. You win games by putting up more points than you allow and that stat is 100% accurate. I have yet to see any team score more points than they allow in a game and lose. On the other hand I have seen 1 team with more yardage than the other team and lose on several occasions
You just derailed your own argument!!!!!!! If the D sets up the O(which happens a lot), then the points scored aren't fully attributed to the opposing D.How? Yards do not equal points, TD and FG equal points. Heck with a great defense they can set up the offense where they only travel a short field and put up points.
