We escaped 0-2, barely

A win is a win. Sometimes the breaks go your way and sometimes they don't. The Cowboys looked great in the opening quarter and held on. Give them credit.

No doubt. #1 stat in the league. Usually cant lose the turnover differential and come out on top.

And why the game was more about the critical mistakes they made than a great performance by us. We’ll take it!!
It seems like you are saying the Chargers were the better team except they made mistakes, but aren’t mistakes one of the factors in determining which team was better?

Greg Zuerlin’s 56 yard field goal as time expired stamped out the forbidden start to the season we had feared. It also stamped out the horrid game clock Mgmt in final sequence in drive as Prescott led a 49 yard to set up the kick.

Chargers gifted us a turnover on horrid pass in the end zone and penalties thwarted scoring opportunities on 2 TD’s called back providing an opportunity for final winning drive .

Throughout a season you need games you probably shouldn’t have won. But we did just enough and took advantage . But the final kick bailed out an otherwise game heading to a loss.

We’ll take it. Avoiding 0-2 is huge. We hadn’t started 0-2 since 2010. Now we come home to 3 straight under our own roof and will be favored in all with only one( Panthers) with a winning record.

An 0-2 record would have presented many challenging issues and concerns moving forward. Now we can be more optimistic looking to be 5-1 or 4-2 at the bye instead of struggling to reach .500.
Ugh..... how do you survive the season being so pessimistic? They"gifted" us a turnover on a horrible throw, yet somehow they made an incredible play on Daks interception, right? Our defense is getting turnovers, and instead of giving them any credit at all. Uts nothing but luck, right? We went on the road missing both starting defensive ends as well as Gallup and our starting tackle and we beat a very solid chargers team....... but we escaped, we were lucky, they gifted us......damn you are predictable.

I’m happy we won but the game furthered my belief that MM has no business coaching this team.

Except for the blowouts, I imagine that every win or loss in the league can be changed by playing the “what-if” game. It is the little things that turn a loss into a win… or a win into a loss.

People catch hell on here for saying a loss could’ve been a win if…

There shouldn’t be a pass for saying the opposite, either.

This game proves what a lot of us has been saying all along is exactly right.

Focus on the run game = Win

Throw the ball 45 times = Loss

Hopefully this is an eye opener for the coaches going forward. Dak doesn't have to play great if you have a good game plan with the run game.
So you think the game plan dictates? Teams always EANT to run the ball.... doesn't mean you can. We scored 20 points this week and won. We scored 29 last week and lost.

AND we could have been 2-0 so

Yes, Dallas could be 0-2 or 2-0 depending on kickers or penalties. But we played what I consider two good teams at their house and ended up 1-1. At no point were we out of these games. We're looking good against good teams. That's a positive.

So far turnovers have been the difference.

In Tampa without them that game wouldn’t have been close.

And in LA the Chargers critical turnover provided us an opportunity to win the game.

I’d argue 1-1 is very fortunate.
Yawn...... this is the case in 80% of all games every weekend. Baltimore won because the chiefs gave them a gift, right? A w is a w. Thats it...its that simple.

I sure do love takes like this.

Lose one game on a last-second field goal where our kicker missed two kicks.
Win one game on a last-second field goal where their kicker missed a kick.

See?! These games were like night and day and perfectly validate all my preconceived notions! What's that about playing completely different defenses with different strengths and different approaches to the game? Nonsense!

100%.

Just like you don’t run into a stacked box and Vea/Suh in Tampa, you don’t throw 50 times when you’re staring at two high safeties all game. Moore is having a good season so far.
Heard yesterday in week 1 zeke faced 8 men in the box more than any rb in the entire nfl that week.... but yea, we should have forced the run.. . Ugh

We could have also easily be 2-0, if the Refs made the correct calls in our game against Tampa Bay.

Of course , in the end a win is a win. But if you want to break it down and analyze how it occurred then you consider the events leading to the results .

Totally agree. But we wouldn’t have been in the game at the end without winning the turnover differential. It is what it is.

If we continue winning the turnover battle it will bode well for us this season.

So flip it and do the same from chargers side. We were up 14 to 3 and dak threw a ball that dropped into their hands. They were lucky they weren't down big at that point.

As always I call it like I see it. And you’re over reacting and or misinterpreting my comments.

How would you evaluate the events of the game? Are you able to take an unbiased approach detaching your emotions?

I'm thrilled that Zuerlein made that 56-yarder to win. However, I was worried. I felt like McCarty missed a chance to get him closer. He should have called that timeout and then run one more play before the field goal attempt. I would have felt way more confident in something like a 48-yard, or even a 51-yard, attempt. But, hey. Zuerlein did it. He was clutch for us this week. I'm hoping the first game was an aberration.

Again like others misreading . But I am saying winning the turnover differential allows us to be in the game in the end much like in Tampa.

Losing the turnover differential usually describes how the better team loses. I’d argue without them the Chargers would have won and we might be saying they are the better team today as a result.

Sometimes greater teams can overcome turnover differential like the Chargers did last week in Washington and Tampa did against us.

I’d argue based on what I witnessed yesterday the Cowboys and Chargers are pretty evenly matched. And the turnovers and penalties , both key components, made the difference in the results .

Time will tell as the season goes if this is an opportunistic defense or if it was more about these teams making costly errors.
