Pay no attention to the criticism of value and sacks and all that is coming. The Cowboys finally have added a real powerful bleepkicking DT who will not be bullied. A tone setter that will do all the dirty work to free up his teammates. There's a reason why Micah Parsons was so excited for the pick.

Oh and he's not just a NT. The tools are there to develop as a rusher. He moves better than his size. He's quick. He's got great feet for a big man. Dan Quinn has a lot to work with.

This is a radical shift in philosophy that I think we all should applaud.

The Cowboys will get mediocre grades for this selection and those grades will be wrong. He is exactly what we needed on defense, and as my 25th ranked player on my board I can say without any bias that he's value at the pick.

Well done. Thank you. I don't think I could have gone another season without a real DT. Now, for the love of God, don't crap the bed in round 2.

After last year's successful "reach" with Smith I'm inclined to side with the cowboys pick over whoever the talking heads thought we should pick. And anytime we take a lineman early in the draft I celebrate.

Round 2: Dallas trades the rest of its draft picks to move up and take CB Joey Porter Jr.

I thought you needed to be brought down off your euphoria.

Risen is spot on. First DT we've taken in the first since the year I was born and it seems like a home run pick to me. Would've been content with Nolan Smith/Joey Porter and I could have tolerated Michael Mayer bc he's good even though I don't love what type of player he is and feel like we need him, but I was ecstatic with the Mazi pick. And also overall shocked bc we don't make picks like that.

I'm okay with this selection. I wanted Will Levis from Kentucky but drafting this DT is satisfying. Dude will help the defense out a lot. The run defense will improve. Another weapon to help Micah is always good.

Glad the FO didn't draft a TE nor a CB in the first round.
