I know the unspoken rule is to give a draft pick 3 years to evaluate, but I think Wade has seen all he needs to see from Carpenter and will ship him out either as a package deal or for additional picks this coming off-season. He just doesn't seem too enthusiastic about Carpenter. In a press conference, Wade said something to the effect of, "Carpenter is a hard worker, but he is having problems fitting in. I hope it works out for the guy." I am too lazy to pull up the original but that is the basics of it. If he isn't packaged to move up in the draft or to get a big time FA WR, then I think he will be traded for a 3rd or 4th round pick, and that pick will be used to get a real ILB for the 3-4 defense Wade is running.
I still believe that he may have always been an average player at best that benefited from the talent around him, in particular AJ Hawk

Spears has been a rather good run stopper and holds his own, Carpenter by far has been the biggest bust....

wow.

9-1.

Yet the board is littered with skip bayless comments, carpenter and spears suck, julius jones sucks and of course Roy Williams sucks thread.

Amazing.

Imagine if we were losing.

I think if we were 10-0 some would want us to break up the whole team.

Come on Guys ENJOY THE RIDE ,WILL YA???????????????????

why does everyone get upset when someone complains about a players performance?

Its pretty legit that Carp isnt that valuable to this team because hes never on the field. And that was a FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK?? That stinks!

Maybe one should remind certain people of the first rd picks of 96 on. Ellis is the only one up to Newman that was any good. Of course Jerrah trading two #1's for galloway did not help. But then look at the 2nd rd picks up till 2002.
Look at how many busts were in the draft of 2005 - IN THE FIRST RD. Carp still has time to become a player- look at all those picks that will never be much of anything at all. And look at all the heat a certain #1 pick that plays safety has gotten.

I agree 100%. There isn't anything wrong with wanting to improve upon the team, no matter what the record is. The Patriots obviously were not content with where they were and continue to improve. Why should shouldn't we?

We shouldn't just coast to this years first round play off loss?

Interesting. I may take that into consideration if it comes to it! ;)

Some seem to think that every thread topic should be

'WOW. WE ARE GREAT. 9-1. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!!'.

Perfectionists win. You can always get better. This is how the best sports teams and companies are successful - the quest to constantly improve and analyze what was done wrong.

Now to the thread:
1. Spears is worth a second or third. Not a bust, but he is a disappointment.
2. Carpenter still a little early, but he does look like a bust. We should have thought more about what position he was going to play - I would like to hear the explanation from BP as to what he was thinking. He can't play outside in a 3-4 because his pass rushing skills aren't good enough. He could potentially play the position Burnett does (nickele backer) but Burnett is quicker and better. His only position with us is inside but he isn't physical enough.

So, either we overrated (1) pass rush skills or (2) his physical ability to bang inside. Which is it BP?

So if we stay 3-4, which we will, he is definitely gone.
