We had San Francisco up against the ropes

While other fan bases in May are gearing up for the upcoming season here we are with our with our annual cry a river thread, still bitter over our latest playoff loss. Lol Our fans simply can’t put a playoff loss behind them, they have to keep dwelling over it, blaming the officiating and the opponent getting away with dirty tactics. In the eyes of some of the knuckleheads here it’s yet another championship opportunity that was taken away from us by the league.

Wrong. In the first half in BOTH playoff loses to the 9ers we actually threw more on 1st down than we did run.
2022

Drive 1:

1st and 10 - throw, holding
1st and 20 - run, 6 yards
1st and 10 - run, -2 yards

Drive 2:

1st and 10 - run, 1 yards

Drive 3:

1st and 10 - throw, 3 yards
1st and 15 - run, 10 yards
1st and 10 - run, 5 yards
1st and 10 - throw, -2 yards
1st and 10 - throw (scramble), 11 yards
1st and G - throw, TD

Drive 4 was hurry up, so throw that one out. It's an even split, when they should never run the ball on first down against a 49ers base set. It took them trying to establish the run for two drives to realize how stupid it was to do that, so they basically threw away 8 minutes by trying to run the ball. Anything less than like a 70-30 split on first down is dumb. They moved it on drives 3 and 4 when they ran it less.

This also doesn't account for the fact that they were conservative even when they passed on first down.

My response...........ya offense and defense of ours is really laughable!!!! :banghead:
1st. Almost another pick 6
2nd. Inaccurate pass
3rd. Sacked with 5 sec available to him on his dropback....
THE END!!!!

Yes that's true, but when the other team knows when you are going to run and throw, your OL is at a total disadvantage.
yep, when its 3rd and long and 2nd and long they do. As soon as Pollard went down, they basically played the pass the whole time. NO need to worry about the run.

Never heard of a "we had them" trophy.....get over it and move on...after twenty seven years you.....on never mind.......

Overall pitiful performance by the offense. Pollard averaged 3.67 yards a carry so while he was the best Cowboys Rb he wasn't dominating in any way. The biggest issue on offense was lack of explosive plays in the passing game. Gallup had 0 catches on 3 targets that is not acceptable. schultz had 5 catches 27 yards, that's great to get positive yards but not going down the field enough to sustain drives when your rb is getting only 3 yards a carry of less. Cd did ok averaging almost 12 yards a catch but he can't do it by himself. Almost nothing to back the SF defense off outside of the 1 hilton catch for 15 yards.

The defense did it's job, the so called leader of the offense crapped the bed. That offense wasn't doing much even before Pollard got hurt and it did even less once he got hurt.
People act like Pollard was shredding them. Aside from a 10 yard run he averaged like 2.4 yards. Add in the 10 yarder and it was 3.6 or something.

NFL Network is airing the 2022 Confernce game right now.

Man we had them until Pollard got injured. Dirty tackle also. Can't believe a bigger deal wasn't made out of that by the league.

Defense held that SF offense to 6 points up until that point. SF was rolling through everyone before that game.

We had them.......
Some wounds never heal I guess. Stop pouring salt on it.

Yea which proves we didnt mail in that we were running on 1st Downs. The whole argument is you have to be able to run vrs the 9er's as they know Dak struggles vrs heavy coverage.

Well yea, but the reason is that whilst he was on the field it meant at least one LB was dedicated to the run option (AND INCREASE SPACE IN THE SECONDARY).....Zeke's lack of speed meant the defense could sit deaper.
