We have to take a QB high in the draft

Totally agree but I'm beginning to fear jerry will want a guy he can see on the field this year. To me QB is a no brainier and personally I like Wentz the most but really worried jerry will not want to draft a guy to sit and learn which means giving up a ton of picks in a couple years to have any chance at a top QB prospect

Don't mistake my campaign. I have no hope that Jerry will take a QB with that pick. It's why I don't look forward to this draft. They could postpone it for all I care.

I see you have your speech prepared when the team makes its selection.

If you need me, I'll be over here in reality where everyone agrees 1 or more of these QBs will go in the top 5.

I expect 1 to go in the top 5 as well. Probably Cleveland. They have history with picking "franchise" QB's high in the draft. But whomever picks one in the top five will be reaching for a player not rateed that high.

I disagree. So do others. And if the Cowboys disagree they have to get that QB. Any other position pales in comparison. I'll trade you two Bosas or Jacks for the QB.

Geoff has a less than 9" hand measurement which is considered a death sentence for QB's. He won't be able to play well in bad weather.

How does that compare to Romo or Drew Brees?

Actually everyone agrees. Show me a ranking that has a QB ranked higher than #9. If we do reach for a QB I hope it's Lynch. Wentz has problems following his progressions in a timely enough fashion.

Scouts Inc. have Wentz 8th and Goff 9th but with the same grade as their 5th ranked prospect. You have to understand how to read a board. http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft

Frank Coyle has Goff 5th and Lynch 6th. http://www.draftinsiders.com/

Those were the first two I checked.

It's best for the future to take a qb but I'm not excited about any of the top qb prospects at all.

I also don't think you can compare grades of qb's with other positions. There are only a handful of qb's who come out each year who even become backup quality players

Like I said, none rated at where we pick and most below #9. You can always choose to pick the outliers but the mean is what's important.

LOL. From everyone agrees, show me one who doesn't, to me cherry picking outliers.

Hey, I'll back you up as you move those goal posts.

The real outlier will be those that say Goff is a reach with a top 5 pick.

Almost ALL of them have Goff a reach as a top 5 pick. Even one of those links you posted.

You can get all those other pieces in any draft. You are rarely in position to get a franchise QB. Even rarer when your own QB is old and breaking down. So while I'd love to discuss the possibilities at 4 for months it's real simple for me. If the Cowboys have a franchise QB grade on any of those three prospects that has to be the pick. Even if it means going up to 1 to get that guy.

Nice work. This sums it up very succinctly and very well.

I've stated numerous times (to the sound of crickets chirping), that while you can fill every other need your team may have in free agency, if your need is a franchise quarterback, you're simply out of luck.

There's no refuting it, there's no denying it.

And your team can be stacked at every position otherwise, but if you don't have that one filled, you're going nowhere. And long-time fans of this team should not that only too well in the years following Aikman's retirement.

You need to distingish if you are saying he is hardly a top 5 on big boards or if you are saying he is rarely a top 5 pick in the mock drafts.

Because I have seen him listed in MANY mocks as the first or second QB taken and many of those times it is in the top five.

Now...I have seen him lower in big boards.

That's why I am saying you need to distinguish which you are talking about.

There is no consensus on any of the QB's this year being a franchise QB. In fact most if not all of different rankings of the top players don't have a QB in the top 9 and most much lower. So picking a QB 1-8 would be out of desperation. And there's a lot more uncertainty in any year picking a QB more so than any other position.

You'll have to provide this "consensus" that you're trying to refer to, because everything everyone else is seeing says otherwise.

But, as with most of your factless, baseless comments, I'm not expecting anything to support this one either.

Good luck getting anything supporting his claims. That's not his M.O.

I am not asking to support his claims. I am asking which he is referring too.

I already know if it is the mock drafts he is completely wrong.
