houston traded osweiller for a 2018 2nd and 2017 6th for a 2017 4th.
osweiller costs $16M in base salary and $3M in cap hit from signing bonus.
we could have easily cleared up $13M from restructuring dez and tcrawford.
should be able to scrap up another $6m in cap space from other contracts.
we would have a backup qb and a 2018 2nd round pick...

The Browns did that because they have huge cap and wanted another pick. They do not want BROCK as a QB.
well this is essentially an easy 2018 2nd round pick.
if romo goes to texans and gets hurt, that could be a high 2nd round pick.

Paying $16 million for a 2nd round pick is stupid in itself.

I think it's more like the Browns got the pick and DO want Osweiler as their QB. But, hopefully it's to have him serve as a 1-year starter while the let Kessler ride the bench and learn and perhaps draft another QB and let that QB learn before throwing him to the wolves.

If that's the case, then it's a fairly logical move. But, we are talking about the Browns.

You have rolled your calendar too far sir!

If you can find the 2017 pages, get them out of the trash quick.

no, we have enough cap space for 2017 -unless jerry wants to start signing large contracts.

They have no signing bonus with Osweiler do deal with, they could just cut him with no cap hit and keep the 2nd round pick.
