thought process:
1. it appears we are not using our cap space.
2. we have easily access more cap space by restructuring Dez (~$8M) and TCrawford (~$5M)
3. if the FO intends to use all the cap space, then of course, do not do the trade.
4. we have plenty of cap space next year if the FO wants to do anything.
5. it appears the FO wants to get their premium players from their premium picks. so here is a chance at a premium pick in 2018 - 2017 is better but 2018 is not that far off.
i dont buy enough cars to get your joke.
please use common sense.
pretty please. on behalf of everyone.
the team will not enter next year with the current roster.
every player added that is not a rookie minimum and has a deal for 2018 will impact that cap, so no, we will not have 50 million.
this deal was good for CLE because they had 100 MILLION in cap space. Trading their hoarded cap space for a 2nd was smart.
Dallas has ~8m in space.
You don't flip a switch on Dez or Witten to eat 18m in dead cap this year at the rate of a 2nd.
I think the Cowboys would. I think the Cowboys love Dez as much as you do. If he tore his ACL he'd be right back here. I think its going to take a lot of Dez not to be here.
it's a tough call IMHO.
at that point all the gtd money is paid and Dez would be on a long string of injury plagued seasons.
you'd be deciding between a 2 year 25m deal for him or moving on.
again you don;t restructure every one and this is why.
at some point you go to the well once too often and end up with jay ratliff.
so it's all checks and balances.
