We need this guy back

Since we are dreaming.....let's get
  • Aikman as GM
  • Romo as offensive coordinator
  • Emitt as running backs coach
  • Irvin as receivers coach
  • Moose at fullbacks coach/ special assistant of something
  • Novacek as tight ends coach
  • Charlize Theron and Megan fox as cheerleaders coach and stuff
  • Kevin Costner as team mascot
I'd rather have Sam Elliott as the mascot because he looks like a cowboy.

A job Tony Romo is completely unqualified for? No experience coaching and they make him OC? This is really a foolish idea. No knock on Romo, but calling plays in a TV booth is NOTHING like being an OC. It never happens like this in the NFL for a reason. Being an NFL coordinator is a very tough job.

Well those standards can be applied to Garrett also. He had no experience coaching. Heck, not even high school football. Yet got to be an OC and head coach.

Frankly, Romo was the sole reason why our offense did so well for many years. He carried this team. If not for him would be getting top 5 pick every year with Garrett as head coach. Romo would be a better coach than Garrett right now. Garrett doesn't even know the X and Os about football and really doesn't provide us with any value whatsoever. He is that bad for this team.

Right, the standards were low with Garrett- why would we want to do that again? Romo, at least at this point, is completely unqualified to be an OC. No knock on him, but I can’t believe how many folks think coaching is just calling plays with a headset on. Coaching is harrrrrd work. NFL coaches put in about 80 hours a week. Planning, film room, organizing practices, position meetings, individual players meetings, coaches meetings....and more.

Tony Romo is an extremely knowledgeable former NFL player. Who might make a good coach....someday. But you don’t step into a coordinator or HC job with ZERO coaching experience. There’s a reason coaches learn and pay their dues before getting promoted to jobs like that.

Seems to get worst the more time he spends with this coaching staff.
Do we need to sign Romo as the QB coach?

That would be great. I doubt that Tony is up for a regular coaching gig, though.

Romo really should hold a QB camp next offseason. From his football life video, he really felt like he had figured out how to play QB. He should see if he can pass it on.

The time with QBs would be invaluable to him as an announcer, and if the guys he trains succeed, it adds to his football prestige. What likely happens is that some succeed, some fail, and Tony gets the credit for the successes and none of the blame for the failures. No lose situation.

I think Romo could be a good coach. So would Witten. Romo would have to start somewhere. But with him being a gun slinger he probly isn’t the best to teach mechanics.

In the Tony Romo: A Football Life, Tony talks specifically how it took years for him to figure out the mechanics of throwing the ball to where he could do it from all angles and situations. Says he thinks he finally got it mid 2013.

2014 was his best season ever, with the top 6 season QB rating of all time, at that time.

He's got something to teach. It may not translate to other QBs, but if I were an NFL QB, I'd be all over getting some of that.

I just made a post saying Tony should run a QB camp in the offseason.

The truth is, Romo is overqualified as a color analyst. He's exceptionally valuable to any team who needs real time information as to how to pick apart a defense. Romo will be a coach at some point, I'm certain of it!

Means he's the best, and will be paid like it.

I think Tony is happy raising his kids, loving his wife, and making millions watching football games and talking over them.

I agree with you. Just pointing out that Garrett stepped into being an OC then a headcoach with no experience whatsoever. Just saying how dysfunctional and disorganized this team is and it all stems because we fail to hire quality coaches.

See that’s what I am talking about. When he was hurt he was in the meetings drawing up plays for Dak. Tell me he wouldn’t make a good coach. If it was me I would let him draw his own playbook. Teach it and call it. JJ is missing the boat.

I just don't think Tony would be interested. He's got a sweet gig now.

I think JG would make a better mascot. He won’t even need the costume. He already looks like Rowdy and has the clapping down.

Romo should be the OC ... no doubt in my mind he made JG look somewhat competent. After watching A Football Life, it makes you realize how special Romo was as a player and how special a person.

I especially liked the part when they were talking about regrets and not winning a super bowl ... and Tony laughed off and more or less feels like the luckiest person walking the earth and wakes up every day and says thank you...the man has his priorities straight. I would love to see him as the OC and eventually head coach.
