We need to use press coverage on Beckham in week 1

He's incredibly explosive and sudden in and out of his routes, was kind of in awe watching him play last year. I don't know if trying to get up in his face and press him is the best way to defend a guy like that. Hard to get a jam on a receiver like that. Dez is more like the type of receiver you want to press because he's bigger, more powerful but not as quick/sudden off the line. You try to disrupt his route at the start before he gets downfield.

Because he is very very difficult to get a good jam on off the line of scrimmage. Teams tried it. He killed press coverage. He is so quick, he can get outside or inside before the corner can get to him. Then, with his speed, quickness and catching ability, you're no recovering. you're beat.

Oh and we don't have anything close to an agitator on defense, particularly our DBs.
I feel like Wilcox should go ahead and light him up and take the penalty. Ask Romo to pay the fine. Lol. ODB has been hearing footsteps this preseason.

One good 1,000 yard season as a rook that no team has played against and a two finger grab of a football all of a sudden has elevated his status as some sort of prodigy child.

Well, teams have film now, plus this is a new season.

I have 1 word for you on how to stop Beckham and 1 word only...Heath!

Totally agree. Beckham is an amazing talent but I'm not convinced he will stay healthy. He also doesn't have the body type to hold up and showboats enough that DBs are going to take extra shots at him when they can.

Yeah, need to be physical with him, I agree. However, there is more to it than just that.

If you knock him around at the line of scrimmage and then have a safety over the top, he could get very frustrated. If you don't give the CB some help, then Beckham can beat that some of the time.

All this Beckham talk...lol Eli better have some time to get the ball to him...just because.

The way to stop him is double him
You can press him some but he can beat the press coverage. He's very quick
Stop him by double teaming him and make him pay anytime he catches the ball
That does leave Cruz single but as with most giant receivers, you pound them a couple times and they will be looking for somewhere to hide
The most important thing is make Eli very uncomfortable and he will throw a couple up for grabs
I'm thinking they put mo on him and I would have jones over the top on him
Jones has better speed than the safeties and mo is probably as quick in short space as any of our cb

I watched quite a bit of Giants games last year and teams most definitely attempted to press him a great deal and that's when he succeeded the most.

Now that there's film on him I do expect him to regress some. But he's still going to dominate.

Other than Beckham, NY is going to be a little bit in trouble though.

Remember when Eli's team came down at 9-7 and his defense carried him to a SB? The tables are turning...just like a worm.

I agree. But this is the NFL. You truly never know what's going to happen. It's a contract year for Eli and Coughlin is on the hot seat. For whatever reason, they seem to respond in these situations and it just so happens to be every 4 years.

Living in NY, I pray I'm wrong. Already made bets with my barbers today that the Cowboys will finish with a better record. As a Boys fan, you obviously never let your enemies see you sweat and I've been as cocky and confident as ever. But deep down inside I'm having huge doubts about this season.

Cruz is coming off a devastating knee injury and still hasn't faced full contact in nearly a year. Beckham will get all the defensive attention. Cruz will have to show the league he's the same guy before teams treat him like a #1 again.

So, to sum up your thoughts... NY is due for a good season and you seriously doubt Dallas' chances of a good season? Is that about right?

I do think the worm has already turned in the Dallas vs. New York series.
