Yes. For me, personally, the season is eerily similar to our 2014 season.
They lose one of their best (if not the best) pass rushers on their team.
Questions surround Eli's ability to stay protected and deliver.
Head coach on the hot seat.
Lots of 'no name' guys on their defense due to injuries.
Last year we got rid of D Ware, lost Sean Lee, Romo had back surgery and Garrett was a 'lame duck' Head Coach. Everyone, including many on this forum, predicted a 6-10 season. This team embraced the 'fight' mantra, and "played together, stayed together" as Dez so put it after every PC. You could really feel these guys bond and were like brothers on the field. There's a clip of Dez grabbing Beasley by the head and kind of putting his head in his chest after a huge play by Beasley and my friend always refers to how much he loved that image and it was indicative of how much these players cared about each other (this was during the last Commanders game last season; can post a clip later).
Of course with all that being said I still have my ticket for Cowboys vs Eagles November 8th and Cowboys vs Giants at met life in October.
Well, I understand what you're saying... but don't 100% agree with it all.
You say that the 2015 Giants have some similarities to the 2014 Cowboys... well they also have a lot of similarities to the 2014 Falcon's.
Coach on the hot seat. No name guys on defense. Wondering if their OL can protect their expensive QB.
I bet you could find similarities between NY this year and Tampa Bay from last year. Or Jacksonville Jags last year, etc.
Basically, I think that it is folly to look at how Dallas succeeded last year and then look at a different team and try to find similarities between them as an indicator of success. Particularly if you look at the weak points and expect to overcome them exactly as another team did.
Just because Garrett was on the hot seat last year and Coughlin is this year, that indicates nothing as to how NY will play in 2015. There are plenty of teams every year that go down the tubes and their coach was on the hot seat The only thing a coach on the hot seat means is that previous seasons have seen that coach's team struggle.
Having questionable ability to protect your QB is not indicative of success, either. Can the OL be better than expected and surprise everyone? Sure it can... but that is the opposite of what usually happens. Typically when everyone questions how bad an OL is, it almost always ends poorly for that team.
IMO, your worries about the Giants being good just because of those things you mentioned, is more akin to superstition than any tangible reason to expect success.
