Being from NY, I have watched OBJ a bunch already and I can't figure out why they don't manhandle him at the line. I know he is quick, but I feel a physical conrner has a much better chance of stopping him over playing off and letting him run his route. I don't think I have seen one team harass him at the line. Not aggressively anyway.

I think the secret is to pummel Eli into Manning paste.

This is exactly it. While we can speculate on what kind of coverage will work best on Beckham, we know for a fact (based on last year) that the Giants' OL will be subpar. As per usual with every QB/WR in the league, getting a pass rush is the best way to shut down a passing game. Against some teams that's difficult, but against the Giants it should be doable to get enough pressure to slow down the passing game, save for the signature Eli hail mary plays. .

Dez is a better overall receiver, OBJ is a highlight reel but let's see how he handles the adjustments now that there's film on him. Dez's main problem was route running, but like a lot of people said during the draft all he needed to do was get the mental side locked and he would be special.

My ranking for receivers is
Dez Bryant
Antonio Brown
Calvin Johnson
Jordy Nelson
Victor Cruz
AJ Green
I need to see more than 1 season from OBJ before i label him a top receiver.

I don't see how you can put Cruz above AJ Green. They've both had injury problems so we'll say that's a wash, but AJ green has better stats no matter what way you look at it, with arguably a worse QB. Anyway, that's my opinion.

I'll give you that one, Green is actually a more difficult match up for opponents and i've seen Cruz be held in check numerous times.

Not sure Cruz will be 100% by the first game. I read he suffered a minor setback. And just do whatever the Jags did. They had OBJ whining like a 2 year old afterward. I bet Patmon could get under his skin.

The giants overcame their limitations in 2007 and 2011 because they had a deep talented defense, particularly on the defensive line. That pass rush enabled the Giants to beat better teams and to overcome.

This year's Giants team has no super defense waiting to come to their rescue. Strahan, Osi, Tuck, etc. are long gone. Those guys are why they used to win.

That goes for every team. There are unknowns who will be good on every team.

And that's my point. Everyone is laughing at the Giants and other teams even though they may have those "unknowns" this coming season whereas we have the 'talented on paper' roster.

We'll see how it pans out. Excited nonetheless

Every team has unknowns... particularly teams that people say aren't good on paper.

I'm not saying that I know the Giants are going to be bad, because nobody knows that. But I'm certainly not going to be worried about them because they have trouble protecting Eli, they lack defensive talent, and expectations are low.

The teams that played well in 2007 and then went a few seasons playing poorly before playing well again in 2011 are gone. Not many of those guys are still around, and the players that departed from the defense were the catalyst for those great post seasons. Most of the players there these days don't have a history of playing poorly for 3 years and then playing well. Most of them now just have a history of not playing well, period.

Coughlin is about the only coach left from those days too, and I seriously doubt he coaches to have 3 bad years before really trying to win in the 4th.

There is absolutely zero logic in looking at this year's Giants roster and thinking, "Well, they've been bad for 3 years now... so they are due to be good again."

Anyway, I think we've probably said what we need to on the subject so, peace. We are about to find out, as they like to say.

12 games, and he's better than all of them. Guess he is better than Jerry Rice also. 'Cause 12 games is all you need to prove you re the best of all time too.

Why is everyone saying do what the Jags did? I watched that game this preseason and he was open just about everytime the ball was thrown his way Eli missed him.

I'm not sure what else we can do- some guys are just really good. Put a corner on him and hope the corner plays lghts out.

Absolutely. Cruz is pretty good, but not in the Bryant /Green class.
