I made this point in draft thread but what the heck, I haven't seen this point made anywhere.

So, if the league goes to 18 games, (which it will, it's just a matter of when) think about what that does to the game. Lines become more important for the long haul. Someone like Manziel/RG3/Vick can't stay healthy for 16 games more or less 18. You need the big guys, and depth behind them when the schedule gets more brutal. Those extra 2 games aren't just 12% more, they are exponentially more in the sense of durability over a season. Lines are always important, but they will be more so in an extended season.

Maybe the Boys are getting ahead of this trend with 3 of last 4 1st rounders being OL. Whoever our next QB is, that kid will need a deep and great OL to protect him over an 18 game season.

what do you want? you can't draft players who have already been picked. do you think there was a defensive player more valuable than martin?

also, do you not think that the next few picks will be defensive players?

I think Martin was the top player on their board. I also think they tried to trade down and spent nearly 9 minutes trying but couldn't pull it off. Nobody wanted to give up anything for Johnny. They took the best player. I believe they really wanted to go D but it didn't fall that way. I also believe the next two picks will be on the DL.

A smart pick IMO. There's a lot of depth on the front 7 in the draft. Aaron Donald, Mack, Barr, Clowney were all gone. I like this pick. I personally didn't care for either of the top rated safeties as a 1st rd option. I really liked this pick. The only thing other than this that would have made sense was to trade down for more picks.

This was a pretty good group for a few years. Just got old at the same time.

Ridiculous thread title but love the idea of adding strength at OL. Still time to add DL strength.

Looks like we have a couple smart lineman with Fred and Martin.

If you want to compete for a championship you will need to go through Seattle and SF

To neutralize those DLs you need a great OL

This is a great pick for our top 5 QB pick next year. He'll be able to learn without getting killed.

As much as I love Johnny he wouldn't have succeeded here. Too much hoopla. Cleveland will be perfect for him and when he takes them to the playoffs and makes them relevant the Browns fandom will treat him like a god like Aggies do.

Hopefully we can run the ball more now and control the clock. We must manage the clock better with this OL. If we can put together long methodical drives with a 6 point hammer at the end then we can cause some trouble. At the same time, we need to stop that on the other side.
