Bad ideal. Two players would be out of position instead if one. That is a bad thing for the OL.

Just 1 player would be out of position, and even out of position he'll probably be better then Parnell

Two reasons---the obvious one is that Martin was rated higher on their board. You know, that "BPA" thing.

The more obvious one (or oblivious to some) is that Dallas invested a 3rd-round pick on JJ Wilcox last year, and giving up on a 3rd-rounder after one season---part of which he spent injured---is stupid.

I would hope that Wilcox would not be the reason that they passed over an upgrade at the safety position if it offered value.

If you move Martin outside to cover as a swing tackle, that creates a hole at Martin's position. A back-up has to fill in for Martin. That is two changes on the line.. It causes confusion.

We'll find out tomorrow. But they guy they wanted (Ward) got taken already.

And yet our record has remained the same.

There's a limit as to how much a better offensive line can help a team.

And will still have the 32nd rated defense

And what defender left on the board would change this?

Yea, I would have loved for Barr or Donald to be sitting there, but the draft didn't fall that way. Sometimes "need" and "availability" do not always coincide. You don't pass on an offensive lineman that almost every scout worth his salt says is a day 1 starter and can play all 5 positions on the offensive line just to take a lessor defensive player.

Jerry said they had some "firm" offers but were surprised nobody was offering up a "bonanza" of picks for Manzel. You don't take a trade down just to trade down if the other team is low balling you.

Jerry made the right call, he took a player at 16 that can contribute starting on day 1 and was considered in many mocks a top 12 player in this draft. I don't see how anybody can complain about the pick.

I'd still give it to the Titans. They have an All Pro LT in Michael Roos, big time free agent money last year on LG Andy Levitre, a 1st round pick at RG in Chance Warmack, and now they added a 1st rounder at RT in Taylor Lewan, and they have a decent young OC they drafted last year in Brian Schwenke.

They also signed Micheal Oher from the Ravens as well.

Problem is that Locker is made of glass.....................they didn't even exercise the 5th year option on him. Even they know he is a bust.

How many times has the team with the best offensive line won the Super Bowl in the salary cap era?

I like how you limited it to the salary cap era to desperately try and hold on to your weak point. Considering the last time this team won a superbowl we had a dynasty built on a strong o-line foundation.

Homer alert!

The steelers were saying the same thing about David DeCastro. And he didn't play that well his first year and was injured, I think. OL is never as automatic as people think it is.

And what about the other 2 OL positions? You can't have the best O line in the nfl with 3 studs and 2 scrubs. Takes all 5 to be good.

I don't think Free, Leary, and Bern - while not studs - should be considered scrubs.

Frederick did pretty damn good for us last year as a rookie but you can go ahead and disregard that to fit your argument. Also who are these two scrubs on our line? I think Leary has played pretty damn well and Free only had a handful of mistakes last season. I think Mackenzy was the only weak point on the line and guess what.....we just replaced him.

So I take it you mean, like one (the first Pittsburgh team), plus the Cowboys at the beginning of the era.

I've seen reports that tackle has the highest bust rate.
