I keep seeing this repeaterd over and over, the only problem is nobody says who we could have gotten that could have started. Mendenhall? Nope Barber is our starter there, and WR in round 2? Nope not gonna beat out Glenn or Crayton. So please tell us all who we could have gotten at our draft spots that would be starting, need 3 names, one for each pick we made.

Facts are we needed backups because our starting positions are locked up.

I wonder if they are complaining like this on the packers board....not saying you are complaining.....just the overall tone of the board tonight.

The strength of their team is the wr and its depth and they took another one.

How does he help their horrendous safeties and nickel corner.

See I expected those answers that why I said at the spots we drafted. AH HA I GOT YOU!! :laugh1:

If our emphasis was on drafting guys who would start this year, we would have drafted Owen Schmitt with our first round pick.

Just becuase the players we drafted will be backups does not mean they are backup quality players.

lol,

I was just saying that even if we had picks #1,2, and 3, we might not have all of them start.

The same thing I've been saying on threads all over this board. Some people just don't think before they type. We're set at our starting positions and we're drafting for depth, future starters, and for specific talents we don't have on the team at this time (such as Felix Jone's speed and receiving abilities). Some of our fans simply don't get it.

Prediction: there are going to be a lot of crickets chirping on this thread. :)

Well said. We drafted players that will contribute and make plays. It's hard to find immediate starters when your team already has 13 Pro Bowlers.

I wasn't sure about the Fasano trade, yet when I think about his time in Dallas, I can only remember him making key penalties, not big plays.

53% of 1st round receivers bust. It's a hard position to evaluate and some good ones can be found on day two.

YEP! Exaclty!
To think that we would draft 3, or even 2, starters would be extemely wishful thinking on one's part. This team is extremely talented and maybe with the exception of fullback, every starting position is basically locked up. We got 3 guys who could come onto this team and make a difference that will IMPROVE the team. Felix provides a returning threat and a good change of pace back that could also catch screens from the backfield. Mike Jenkins provides a SOLID 3rd or 4th cornerback to provide much needed depth in the secondary and could even possibly step in at the safety position. Then finally, Martellus Bennett gives us a HUGE and ATHLETIC body that will be an extra goal line threat and a guy who Romo could look for on passing downs. At the end of the day, we may not be able to say that we picked up any starters, but we could say that we definitly IMRPOVED a 13-3 team.

Truth is some people would have complained if we got DMac and DRC

I think Branden Albert could have come in and started at LG. And that's it. He's the only player that was drafted close to 22 who could have started for us and made an impact on an every down basis.
