We picked Escobar at 47, Pitt grabbed Bell at 48

That's the problem with this site though, everything seems too sacred to discuss. Whining about thread topics and trade discussion and thread merging, when in reality this is what most guys discuss amongst their friends.

It's not griping if I'm saying "wow I just realized we were one pick away from this guy and opted for Escobar instead".

That's me pointing something out and opening it up for discussion. 9 pages deep I see people are either very interested In The topic or overly critical of the discussion itself.

Either way my job here is done. I shared my opinion and got everyone thinking about it. Go Cowboys
See, and I thought we were discussing it. So I don't see how you can say it is some kind of scared topic that can't be discussed. As you pointed out it is 9 pages. if that isn't a discussion, then perhaps people think posting means free lottery tickets. Maybe you think a discussion means only agreeing with the idea posted? Well, not where I come from. A discussion can go anywhere once it is opened up. That's what I did, I opened up another avenue. If it is wrong for us to pass on him while having a RB we do depend on, how bad is it for a team that passed up on him but didn't have that RB they could depend on?

I didn't whine about the topic. I introduced an alternative way of thinking about it. Namely that other teams really missed out on him while we as fans still wouldn't be happy with his selection if he was behind Murray, or we wouldn't be happy with Murray if he was behind him. Fans have a unique way of thinking that every Draft pick is going to be a Pro Bowl or a bust. I just don't see it that way. If Escobar ends up playing here for 8 years or so, then it was a good pick, because many players taken ahead of him won't have careers in the NFL that last 8 years, or so. Feel free to disagree. I won't think it is trolling my discussion, or that disagreeing with my alternative way of looking at it is too sacred to be introduced.

I'm not saying every pick is probowl or bust but 2nd rounders are pretty vital and while you're okay with Escobar over Bell, I can agree to disagree.

I can even leave the prospect of Bell out of it and the selection still looks terrible.

And that's not even a slam of Escobar, who has flashed ability.

But, much like Fasano and Bennett before him, if the player isn't utilized to his potential, the draft pick was a waste.

Both Fasano and Bennett can obviously play, but we never got the proper return on investment with either one and so far haven't on Escobar as well. That's on us, not any of them.

If you purchase anything and never use it, the purchase was a waste.

I agree completely. If Escobar was being used as much as we thought he would (a 2nd rd selection indicates a lot), I wouldn't really think anything of it.
But now we either have to break the bank to pay Murray or look to Joseph Randle as his replacement. And we still haven't really used Escobar much at all.

Not the entire board. Just some of it. A lot of guys are capable of discussing the team without getting offended by stinging criticism.

I personally love looking back at draft what ifs. It really shows the opportunities that are there most years and how impactful the draft is to the future of the team.
