The nerve of some people!Exactly this!
The nerve of some people!Exactly this!
Let's just talk on paper right now since we won't have a chance to really see it in action for a bit.I'm not gonna say we have a better defense because we honestly won't know until we see it... but it sure LOOKS BETTER. Besides, it was getting stale with all the guys we lost to free agency. It now seems fresh, young and can hopefully be revitalized into a turnover machine. I CANNOT WAIT!!! GO COWBOYS!!!

On paper, there's no doubt we're younger, faster, less susceptible to injury, & better.
"We can rebuild it... we have the draft picks."Im hearing the six million dollar man in the background.
We had an easy schedule last year... this year will be a true test. 13-3 is going to be exceedingly difficult.Last year with the 26th ranked pass defense in the league we went 13-3.
All this new unit has to do this year is be AVERAGE.
Your genius never before strategy was to have a defensive heavy draft? There were so many people that doubted my strategy & thoughts around what was going on when I made this thread.....

I'd love to hear from those conclusion jumpers now but my guess is they're too busy celebrating with the rest of us.
Patience is truly a virtue.

I'm surprised the team didn't pay you for this hard hitting analysis.
Please don't hurt yourself patting your back.
With a 3rd string rookie 4th round QB.We had an easy schedule last year... this year will be a true test. 13-3 is going to be exceedingly difficult.
OScan is my boy but I agree. Major message sent to the D as a whole this offseason.
Your plan is to not overpay average players? This is some groundbreaking stuff.I was in the War Room. You didn't see me?
FWIW.... Drafting full Defense was not my strategy. DUHHH. We all knew that was the plan....
My strategy was. Pay close attn now...
1. Let the 8-8 mediocre sauce loafers go.... Don't resign them. Wish them well & pat their butts as they exit (Carr, Claiborne, Church.. etc etc).
2. Embrace youth on Defense.
- This is the point where I made the "Reminagining" thread and many of you freaked out......
3. Watch Marinelli make magic happen.
That was and remains the strategy sir......

Thanks for sharing.
I remember your post earlier in the off-season saying we need to follow ATL's model of rebuilding the D. A lot of people weren't having that because statistically they weren't very good. And the Super Bowl collapse. But that ATL defense has young playmaking talent on all three levels.Minus:
Carr
Claiborne
Church
McClain
Plus:
J-Train Smith (expected to play this year)
CTap (expected to play this year)
Paea
Carroll
Taco
Awuzie
Lewis
Woods
Add this all to the growing presence of Byron Jones, an emerging Anthony Brown, Jeff Heath, David Irving, Maliek Collins, and a Kavon Frazier that's most likely ready to contribute...
4 lossses. 14 major positive factors in the works.
What's not to be excited about on the defensive side of the ball? Please educate me.
Yessirrr! We are loaded. Now it's time to sit back and enjoy the fun that begins to happen when these mini-camps get going.I remember your post earlier in the off-season saying we need to follow ATL's model of rebuilding the D. We can finally say the same about this defense.
You tend to draft guys that have 2nd round grades when you pick in the late first. Teams don't give out 32 first round grades just because there are 32 picks in the first round. They only had 1st round grades on 18 players.I loved our pics 2nd Rd on. Not sold on Taco. Not only is he more of a rotational guy in more of the mold of Irving but Stephen admitted that didn't have a 1st round grade on him. Especially loved Rds 2-5

I watched a lot of tape on Taco when I started seeing multiple mocks showing us taking him. My take on Taco is that he "seems" a little less explosive than other DEs with less in terms of an array of moves to get to the QB. That's what I see but then I look at his production and the fact that he appears to be very strong. He reminds me a lot of the guy that was a beast for San Fran that just couldn't stay out of trouble. (Aldon Smith) Not flashy but very productive. I'm hopeful that's what we have in Taco.I loved our pics 2nd Rd on. Not sold on Taco.
