We will go as Dak goes

Our dysfunctional ownership has made the decision that we’d rather the season be over than bring in anyone who could pose a threat creating any type of controversy in Daks absence if we had success.

It’s a much easier sell as most teams seasons are over if their starter goes down. But a QB with recent injury history it appears a bigger risk than needed to take folding up the tent in the event.

But perhaps with a QB who just signed a 160 million deal it’s a safe decision for our FO. The last thing they want is another situation like they had in 2016.

You really believe that?

Anything's possible, but what you're saying is that Jerry doesn't think Dak can lead the team to a Super Bowl win. That goes counter to everything Jerry's said and done since 2016, including giving Dak the $160 million contract.

If Jerry just wanted to sell tickets and jerseys he'd be able to do that in many much easier ways.

No, Jerry really thinks Dak is THE quarterback for this team. Is he delusional? Maybe, but he still believes in Dak...

There was flawed decision making in 2016 concerning the position entering the playoffs but the situation is different in 2021. Back then, the quarterbacks involved were already on the roster. The starter went down with an injury. Then the backup fell to injury. Then the backup to the backup to the starter became the starter.

Presently, a "solution" to a hypothetical injury sustained by the starter is not Cooper Rush, correct? Who do you propose is an available (not hypothetical but available) veteran acquisition, of proven starting caliber, for Jerry Jones to secure as Dak Prescott's backup?

Not what I’m saying at all.

Dak clearly is a big part of team and a guy this franchise has hitched their wagon too. However I know to get where we all would like to get to and that is a championship, that will require a team stepping up and producing like a championship team does, both sides of the ball. Dak is a focal point but he is not going to take us anywhere by himself

Pretty sure most teams go as their QB goes these days.

But i think the difference here is Dak is coming off a huge down time and after two injuries, one major one.... and no PS games. Dallas FO is putting all their season on him knowing all these issues. No idea on how it will feel in real game situations. That is the problem. Those other teams you are implying about have healthy QBs coming into the season. So of course they should not be as concerned.

Every decision is a safe decision for a front office that has zero accountability for losing. The most comfortable and relaxed front office in pro sports is a family with lifetime contracts regardless of results. What could possibly go wrong with that model of leadership?

I agree the situation is different and Cooper isn’t a threat like Dak was in 2016.

And my thought is that Jethro doesn’t want a similar situation. Worse case scenario would be a backup coming in leading us to more success.
