Well all you "run run run" posters

Just like my dad used to say "if you don't know when to talk and when to shutup, it makes you a fool".

Jason Garrett "answered his critics", he didn't call a good game (again). He doesn't "know when to run and when to pass" and in my opinion...he's a fool.

It isn't about balance, it isn't about passing, it isn't about running... It's about making the defense think twice... Even when we were running play-action, the Commanders defense wasn't biting...

Running the ball takes time off the clock.

Last week, we ran 14 times, and the Packers had the ball for 35:58.

Today we ran 33 times, and the Skins had the ball for 28:34.

Give the Skins the ball for another 7:24 and they win this game.

And it wasn't because the defense played better today. The Packers gained 4.2 yards per offensive play, and today the Skins gained 5.6. It wasn't because of the Skins' mistakes either. They missed a couple of FG's and turned it over once. The Packers missed 1 FG and turned it over 3 times.

We won this game because we played great defense, and we ran the ball.

...interesting observations and i would say that red-zone defense [Washington had just two red-zone possessions 1-1 for 3pts.] was more important than yards per play...the strength of the Dallas defense is high bendability, on par with many of the top AFC defenses...they'll let you play between the 20's but they'll slam the door on you beyond that...the defense won this game today...the Spencer INT sealed it...

...this defense is looking nastier by the week and if the offense could've functioned at something approaching a competent level they would've easily beat Washington as the line predicted...Spencer was playing at a pro-bowl level today...he was a treat to watch...he looks to be coming into his own...by the end of the year he could be a real force if he stays healthy...

...if the present trend on offense continues...guys like Spencer, Ratliff, Ware, Brooking, James and the gang will have to improve still further if Dallas has any chance of post-season success...14 ppg over the last four games is an encouraging sign...not so encouraging is a floundering, flailing offense which can't seem to get out of its own way...

...i will say that the Barber fumble was huge and i think they would've scored on that drive, likely resulting in a better day for the offense...17 points instead of 7 would've gone down much better...this is as much optimism about the offense that i can muster...in the end they got it done...

I was all for running it down their throats early, but..........

You can't make mistakes - fumble.

You have to call some play-action

You have to catch passes - yes I know some were high but you have to catch them. Our WR's are not catching tough ball. Romo has to be perfect for them to catch them. It gets ridiculous.

Last thing and I have said it many times before. Romo does not get into rythm when we run the ball early and often. He is not a QB that is going to be successful running the ball twice and then converting through the air on 3rd down. i have seen it over and over.

Garrett just has no feel for the game IMO. Not one single pass to a Rb. I have been trying to be patient with him but this is getting old fast.

One thing I will give him is that he knows Romo and that is why he is pass happy - because that fits where Romo strengths are.

That theory is all fine and good if you're playing a high octane offense. When you're playing a team that has a mediocre offense at best that philosophy plays into the oppositions hands.

Craig
It's a philosophy that becomes more important if you're playing against a high-octane offense, to be sure, but keeping a teams' offense off the field is never playing into their hands, unless you're saying their defense is more likely to score points than their offense is.

You be happy with 7 points.

I'm not.

This Washington team is a mess.

And how many times did we say leading up to the game that when it comes to these two teams, prior records mean nothing.

It's always a dogfight. We came out victorious even if it was ugly.

Do we need to improve? Aaaabsolutely. But we won.

You still need a quarterback to score, and for most of today Dallas didn't have one.

Throwing more would have made it worse. Washington would have had better field position and time of possession.

That's it. In both games, the problem was execution. But by running the ball more than twice as often, we kept it out of the hands of their offense--potent or not they are the unit that scores the points.

And no, TOP in and of itself does not win the game. You need to support ball control with a good defensive effort. But the thing is, we can do just that, AND we're built to run the ball. The way we played it today is the way it should be played.

The last two games provided the perfect contrast.

what do you have to say for yourselves today?

We won so that is all that matters to me but damn we will win by the pass. Running 2/3 of the time will not get it done. On the last drive we threw every down and won the game.

Need to run to keep them honest but we will win or lose in the air.

Best part of this team though is that this year we are winning games when we play badly unlike the last couple of years when we would have lost today.

Give me a break!

I was at the game. Our runnin attack was the only thing keeping the POS in our favor and rest our D. Romo was SO off today that it wasn't funny. All his throws were high until the last drive. He was awful! Fans at the game was booing him.
Good thing we ran the ball well or else there would have been ALOT of 3 and outs I tell you.

Today was a bad day at the office for Romo. If we can run as effectively as today and romo is accurate, we would have blow out the skins.

Is it too much to ask for balance???? :bang2: Get it together red!

But we were winning time of possession.

Your pictures are prettier than your arguments.

"Run, run, run" -- much like "pass, pass, pass" of the previous week -- had precisely the same outcome: 7 points.

The Cowboys need balance on offense.

More than anything they need execution.

Not a perfect game, but one with minimal mistakes.

None of this would be said if MBIII hadn't fumble the ball... I'm still a fan of running the ball more.

I see what you did there using the power of "If". :)

If Romo could have actually made a pass before the 4th QTR we would have had a very good game. If we where passing all game like Garrett likes to do with Romo being off for most of it we would have lost big.

The running game didn't hurt us today, Romo did for 3 1/2 QTR

Dude Barber fumbled in the redzone and Folk missed a FG.

We better keep pounding the rock.

Sounds about like last week when we "abandoned the run."

It reminded me of a Steeler game where the other team has them down the entire game then Roethlisberger has one good drive and they win the game.

That is exactly what happened to us in Pittsburgh last year.

Balance is the key. We didn't have it last week.

14 of 58 plays last week were rushes.

33 of 61 plays this week were rushes.

I'll take a game closer to the balance we had today all day every day. Execution would have equated to a snoozer of a game.

I don't think the big difference in the game was running or pass at any given time.

I think it was the fact that Tony slumped a bit for the middle part of that game and we had some drops on offense. Eliminate those things and it isn't a shocker that Dallas got things going.
