My fellow Cowboy fans let me ask you one simple question.

Are we a better football team today 3/14/06 than we were 1/1/06?

Brandon Lloyd will want a new contract, easy fix 10 million bonus over the next 7 years...Wonder what Moss makes compared to Randel El now ? Think Moss might want a raise ?

Isn't that an interesting part of all of this? I know that I sure as hell would want a raise if I had a season like he had, and now they're paying overrated Joe's top dollar? Show me the money, I'm more important to this team than they are! I see that coming, I definitely do.

Until we get a freaking top-notch kicker, I reserve judgement.

It's obvious to me after last year that big FA signings rarely = immediate success. So, I like the way things are going so far. I hope there is some more need-addressing on the horizon, though.

Bringin' some politics in it! :D

My answer is yes, but only because some of our young players are going to get better. Problem is this ain't the early 90's Cowboys when EVERYONE was a young buck read to improve. We have some of 'em scattered, especially on the defense, but not nearly enough promising youth on our biggest weakness, the offense! :(

How can we really and truly know that unless it's settled on the field of play. Anybody can look good on paper. Paper doesn't translate into wins on the field. Did the Commanders look good when they signed the "millionaire club"? (i.e. Bruce Smith). Did they win a c-ship?

Do they Commanders look good on paper now?

I see what you're getting at and I agree. We need to do something to make us a better team. But sometimes patience and a good thought process is needed. We can't go crazy just to make headlines.

Well it is obvious that management is back in "Dat Dude" mode this year. But really, we made a big splash last year and what happened? We got Rivera who promptly went south with a back that gave out on a freakin' treadmill. We got Ferguson who found some sort of injury (I forget exactly what) and we ended up starting Glover anyway. WE got Henry (our best signing IMO) and he got injured halfway through the season. We got Bledsoe who started off good but with his well known immobility went downhill after Flo went down and we couldn't protect him any more.

All you seem to get in FA are guys who are already beat up and ready to fall apart. It is pure idiocy to spend big bucks on anyone over 27 in FA with the beating these guys take they just can't hold up. And anyone that young or younger is going to cost way more than they are worth (usually) and could still get injured.

Jerry learned last year that you have to spend your money of young guys who are solid players, that fit what you want to do and have potential to improve. That is what they are doing. We are not signing the old broken-down guys for big bucks looking for a retirement nest egg (i.e. Rivera and Ferguson). And we are not selling out on the young Big Name guys who are mostly overrated.

I hope the scouts are right about Kosier, I'd never heard of him before we signed him so I have no opinion on this move. Ayodele I had heard of but had not seen that much of, however, what I did see looked solid and he looks like he could be a good fit for us. If we can pick up a couple more guys like this that can help us fill in our blanks and can draft our stars we can build a solid contending team. Before you can be a champion you have to become a contender.

If the Boys had a real kicker, they would have made the
playoffs hands down. I could care less what the Skins do.
I am excited with the youth and potential this team has,
but why the frugal posture on kickers.I believe they cost the
team dearly.

Who is suggesting we go "crazy"?.....I'm suggesting we fill some needs.RT,S,PK,OLB etc.

That team that looks good on paper beat us twice last year and (although I don't like the way they are doing it) are filling needs and getting better.

I think the moves made so far have been decent, but not spectacular. It sort of reminds me a lot of Billy Beane's "Moneyball" type moves.....go after young, versatile players that fill a need.

If Ayodele plays ILB, I'll be fine with that. I'd be too skeptical if they expected him to be the LOLB given his lack of sacks in his career. At ILB, he can be the sluggo backer that can take on blocks and allow Bradie to roam free a bit more. They'll still need a nose guard.

Kosier has started every position on the O-Line in the NFL except for center. He's known as a good pass protector and Bledsoe has proven that he can still be effective w/o a great set of WR's and/or a great running game. However, he needs good pass protection.

I'd still like to see them do more and I think they desperately need to sign a good kicker and a free safety as well. But, I think with the way FA signings like Eddie George, Marco Rivera, and Marcellus Wiley have gone, they'll probably avoid 30+ year old FA's like the plague.

Ok, I'm sure I'll get bashed with the "Free Agency isn't over yet" crap, but I must say it looks like Jerry is letting us down this year boys. It makes me sick to see the foreskins making deals, and what'd we get so far? A backup lineman and as far as I'm concerned a second rate linebacker.

The money is there Jerry...........SPEND IT.

CHILL WHIPPERSNAPPER!!!!

One teams so called glory players could be another team's nightmare...

Just because someone waters their lawn down the street from you every day doesn't mean you should!!??? If he's watering his magnolia tree compared to a your yard full of cactus, it makes for a difference in what you're doing.

Personally, I think that this years FA crop is way down. Would not want Randall El, Lloyd, who wants to be a rapper, Archuletta missed another game and tackle, Carter..... To sign someone just to be signing is not the right way to build or compete. Who have they signed that you would want?

Absolutely... we have a guy that can play all the o-line positions ( he just has to learn how to do it all at the same time...should be easy enough)

we got mo jo Flo that loves to hold back from IR...

We got Bill who is too old to lose...so I guess that means wins

we got deadslow who has now stopped dead

we lost our Key but may make a trade for a walker with a bad knee

we no longer have glover to cover

for some a kin that can a yodel

we might have lost LA but there is no football in LA anyway

we are so much better today

You guys are in denial bigtime. Lloyd, Randle El, Carter, Archuleta and from what I heard the Skins might be trading for Abraham from the Jets. You're kidding yourselves if you don't think those guys aren't key additions. Remember, there's one difference between this Skins team and those other Skins team and that's coaching.

No reason for panic. Look at NE- they'll probably be ahead of Washington at year's end. They've only resigned 2 of their own backups and are letting go, or appear to be ready to let go, Andre Davis, David Givens, Christian Fauria, Willie McGinest, Tim Dwight, Adam Vinatieri and possibly Stephen Neal.

I was interested in Bentley and Hutchinson, but Bentley wanted to go home to Cleveland and Minny has 30m + of cap room so it's not surprising we missed on them. I also would have liked Longwell but would you have paid MORE than 2m a season for him? I think the Brandon Lloyd trade is a good one for Washington but the rest of their FA's look like they way overpaid. Long way to go.

Sorry, fella. Skins fans are kidding themselves if they think that an injured DE/LB, a Safety who can't cover and takes atrocious angles, and two overrated WRs (*one a prima-donna who is among the worst in the league at dropping passes), are going to make a huge difference.

All I know is that we're a better team now than we were at the end of last season. Can you honestly say the same?
