Twitter: Werder: Cowboys are carefully representing hiring of Pettine as here to support Parker

For pettine it’s a win win, especially if he wants to coach again. If the team continues to struggle, Parker still gets the blame. Pettine gets paid for a few months and can take another job somewhere else or go back to retirement. Reputation unscathed.

However, if the defense makes any improvement he’ll get a lot of the credit which he can parlay into another gig should he desire one.

CP will be happy with this move.
He has struggled so far but with players coming back from injury and a wise sounding board in MP I think he now has a much better chance of staying around.

Good for CP
Good for MP
Good for BS

Coach in waiting.

This is what Jerry gets for letting a first time HC be in charge of hiring his DC, who is also a first-time DC. The fans will continue to suffer for as long as the Jones family runs this organization like their personal fantasy football team.
The last four all had head coaching experience. Only Quinn was successful

Of the five, our current defense is on pace for a better scoring defense than all of them except Quinn.

It’s bad, but it’s not like hiring a grizzled veteran is a magic wand.

Parker tried to hire Pettine for his staff during the offseason.
I didn't realize that until someone else posted it after I posted . Interesting hire still. Not sure he helps much. I tend to think our talent or lack there of, is the issue more than who's calling the d. We seem like a dumb defense. How many times are we going to allow a rb to run wide open in the flat? How many times can we play this stupid off man coverage allowing huge gains? We need to be super aggressive, not timid. We have nothing to lose.

What I find interesting is that two former DCs/head coaches (Morningwig and this supposed unnamed head coach) have felt the need to throw shade toward Parker.

Wonder if Parker is seen as some premadonna that’s ruffled feathers in coaching circles.

Btw, Ed's trying to stir the pot. As if something nefarious is going on in some way. It's not. The 2 bozos in the front office are throwing **** against the wall to see if it sticks. That's all. They gave CP an ultimatum, shotty was the middleman, had his marching orders. Told CP, and he agreed to try to convince Mike to come join the staff. I don't fault them. I do wonder what changed his mind? Money?

Could be as simple as most coaches have to pay their dues for a long time before getting their big chance. So there could be resentment for anyone who gets hyped before even calling a play.

It may not be personal toward Christian Parker. They all may act the same way no matter who the new wunderkind may be at the moment.

Who knows, CPT?

Jerry's solution is a conflict of authority. There isn't a terrible situation that he can't make worse.

Remember 2010? He made his HC perform the duties of a DC and instructed the OC to report directly to him. The HC had no say whatsoever, in the offense.

Eight games into the season and they are 1-7. The HC/DC is handed the blame and fired.

The other one was Wink.

He cursed out Daboll and walked out on $3m

He left Michigan as a toxic waste dump and then failed to get the Jets job because of his own toxicity. He blamed their owner for not getting the job. Go figure

Anyway, he’s in “media” now and was the first former coach to come out and blast Parker

Basically hes a mess and is hating.

The dumbest organization in the NFL doesn't do anything carefully. This is them admitting a mistake, and CP is finished. Like his babysitter is going to leave at the end of the season and CP is all good?

Possibly. What I find odd is that most coaches wouldn’t go out their way to throw shade though.

So who is really in charge of the defense? Only in dallas would there be a defensive coordinator controversy
