They literally spent that whole off-season telling the media "Zekes our boy for life", "We already have the money allocated for him", "Gurley is the starting point for negotiations".

Guessing it doesn't make many feel better but it's true. I think the holdout had a bigger impact than saving Jason's job. It caught them totally off guard, they simply didn't see it coming. They only had two options......pay him or call his bluff ( seeing if he wait until Oct to report ).

Jerry has thought his team is on the verge of a SB run for years (and has managed to convince some fans as well).

This inability to objectively evaluate his own team leads to things like overpaying the wrong guys and hanging on to the wrong coach.

Well, If Jerry paid him to save Garretts job because he wasn't confident in Garrett being able to properly coach without Zeke then that's the stupidest thing ever.
