I hate that they picked up McCaffrey last year. That's that one boom move that I've been wanting us to make to put us over the top (not trading for McCaffrey, mind you, but acquiring a difference maker like we did when we traded for Haley in the 1990s). He's definitely made them a better team and having a dream season so far.
...good defenses can make way of situations. Last year, Dallas did good job with McCaf. This year, I feel we're better as defense group.

If fact, how far this teams goes in post season, will be because of our D. No shade on offense they good job managing game.

It's weird because 49ers have a great defense but they've been leaning on the offense to win and haven't needed the defense to score for them. Cowboys I feel have a good offense but haven't needed them to score because of the defense.
..interesting points. ITs going to be one of those games of inches. Where penalties, turnovers and lucky breaks will make the advantages.

Good thing about this game. Its good measuring stick early in season. IM saying that, because its VERY likely will see SF again down the road.

Many fans have lost confidence in beating San Francisco due to our playoff losses against them the past two seasons. We still have some of the same issues we had that cost us those games. They get the better of us in the trenches. Christian McCaffrey is going to be a real handful. You can bet the farm San Francisco is going to attack us on the ground which has been our achilles heel. Our redzone offense has been a huge concern this season. We won’t be able to stay within two scores of San Fran if we continue to struggle punching the ball in the endzone. We’re going to need TDs in this game because we’re going to have a tough time keeping them off the scoreboard. They’re a very efficient offense that ranks number two overall. Their defense is ranked fifth and is very physical. I don’t see the Cowboys winning this game, but they have a chance.
I don't go into it with real high expectations, but I haven't built up real high expectations for a while now. The 49ers are a tough team, and I agree that some of the things they do well are a challenge for us. I think it will be tough to keep them from scoring at least 20 and at this point, I don't know if our offense can score 20 against them without help from the defense. I am interested in seeing what McCarthy might do differently than what we saw on offense against them the last two years, and how effective that will be.

My only point with this thread, though, was that it's ridiculous to say we have no chance. I know I'm only speaking to a small audience of no-chancers with that.

I think this is a little over dramatic. I wouldn’t disagree we’re better than Kansas City. I think dallas has the edge over them in general. As a team though Philly has our number, and they will be a team we NEED to beat this year.

For San Fran it’s about how great of an overall game they play. No dumb penalties will be how they avoid shooting themselves in the foot!

Right and we are on the road so good luck lol. It's a measuring stick to see where we are right now for sure.

I do think Parsons was worn down by the time we reached the playoffs. I hope he's not dinged up enough right now to take away from his effectiveness. I don't think our secondary is better without Diggs, but Diggs didn't have his best game against San Fran in the playoffs last year, either. My hope, though, does lie primarily with the defense.

It was supposed to be. I was merely trying to emphasize that it's silly to say Dallas has no chance against the 49ers next week.

Go read the postgame thread. And no, I don't assume it has anything to do with the Chiefs. Reading comprehension is your friend.
pretty sure he's got a restraining order against reading comprehension

I'm just trying to make sure I follow the logic rules of those who say we have no chance against San Francisco next week. I assume that's partly based on the fact that the 49ers beat Arizona 35-16 this week while we lost to Arizona 28-16 last week.

By that logic since Kansas City barely beat the Jets (23-20) this week and we drubbed New York 30-10, then we have to be a couple of touchdowns better than the defending Super Bowl champs. And since we clubbed New England 38-3 and the Eagles squeaked by the Patriots 25-20, Philly should be afeared to even get on the field with us.

We actually also have one-up on the 49ers with our 40-0 victory over the Giants because San Fran only beat them 30-12.

Now again, this is not my take on things. I'm an any given Sunday guy, but if we have no chance against the 49ers because of what they did Sunday to Arizona, this season is looking pretty bright for us in the division and even in the Super Bowl, if we face the Chiefs. Of course, we'll need someone to knock off San Fran for us to get there.
Well what does all this even matter?

We can go 16-1 the rest of the way.....but since Arizona is better than us (they beat us) then Arizona will just send us packing on their way to the Superbowl, right?

Afterall....the "we beat this team, who almost lost to this team" logic leads us to one final conclusion: we are better than EVERYONE....except Arizona.

And if we're better than everyone...and Arizona beat us, then Arizon is better than us, AND better than everyone else too.

Not even sure why we bother to continue playing

Luckily, it's only right now (or if we drub them maybe unluckily). It's only the fifth game of the season. Both teams will probably look a little different if we meet again in the playoffs. It does give us a good gauge of where we are right now, though.

Oh we will. No one should be peaking right now. Hell maybe the 49ers are? Who knows. But I'll assume we will all be peaking by the end of the season.

But we know what's going to come with this game. If we win it means nothing. If we lose its the end of the world.

Fortunately, I think everyone but us is better than Arizona, so we thankfully won't have to play them again. We've got everyone else beat, though.

That's what Cowboys fandom has come to.

It’s been many years since I’ve gone into a season with high expectations. We simply don’t match up well against the 49ers. Their style of play has been a real problem for us. I’m sure they’re feeling very confident heading into this game with the success they’ve had against us. The Cowboys haven’t won a game this season where they didn’t have either multiple takeaways or some defensive scores. In the games they’ve won everything has gone their way. In the game they lost no takeaways or defensive scores. It’s not going out on a limb to say we’re going to need some breaks on Sunday night against San Francisco. We’ve reached the part of the schedule we’re going to start finding out what kind of team the Cowboys really have. If we don’t beat San Francisco on Sunday night, I don’t believe we’ll beat them in the playoffs if we face them. We need to build some confidence against them or they’re going to continue getting the better of us.

People's sarcasm meter is not working on here
I knew when I titled the thread the way that I did that that would happen. Some don't actually read the first post. They just react to the thread title.
