Wrong. NFL isn't about a slow long term process. Injuries and free agency ensure that. A young roster doesn't guarantee a high caliber team in a few years or a long run. Young players get old fast in the NFL or hurt or leave.
Teams don't gradually build w young guys. They either have a system in place (Belichick not Garrett) or they turn it around quick (Eagles)
Double wrong.
You created a strawman and then responded to your strawman, not to what I said.
One of the worst things teams do is to make decisions based on the 1 player away concept (It could be 3 players or whatever but is based on a win now go for it approach).
Jerry was motivated by that concept to trade for Joes Galloway. We've seen many teams do some form of it.
The 1-player away approach is basically the opposite of the Patriot's approach. They have acquired a big time player here and there but rarely make risky commitments to player in trades of mega-contracts.
More often they've traded away top tier talent. The majority of Cowboys fans would have mega-meltdowns if the Cowboys traded away Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins, Logan Mankins, etc..
The go for it concept in the draft often fails:
Trade up for Claiborne.
Stephen and crew saved Jerry from a go for it move with Manziel.
Jerry was again saved when he wanted to push his chips in on QB Paxton Lynch.
The Cowboys also had some years where they kept too many veteran players because they were slightly better than some young players that were cut. That approach made it difficult to improve from year to year and led to cap issues and an aging roster.
