You fill the key need of QB. Here is the thing that I was telling the "trade down" crowd back in March.
It takes 2 to tango. As much as you can say "they could have" the fact is you and I have no idea what was spoken about behind the scenes. None whatsoever.
Specific names, or specific trades. If you are Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan, what do you do, with the tools you had available?
Cut 10 over the hill vets. Check
Sign some cheap guys to short term deals for some depth and competition. Check
Address your biggest glaring needs in the draft of LT and QB. Check
Its a process, you won't turn things around over night. It took Parcells 4 years, and his progress was far from linear (playoff apperance, 10 loss season, 9 win season no playoffs, 9 win season first round exit)
ROFL.
Dude, seriously, how long you gonna TRY to keep selling us raincoats in the middle of the desert?
You had Campbell at QB and let him go for a future pick but instead offered up a top 40 pick for McNabb to go win 8 games??? That is insanely bad logic.
Grossman was a decent signing and could tide you over for 2 years. He didn't cost a fortune nor did he cost any draft picks.
I promise you 2 years from now there will be very few Commanders who are glad they traded for McNabb.
LT was a big need but two guys were rated similarly with the guy you liked actually a little lower. You are suggesting no one wanted to move up which is bananas because teams did move up. Dallas would have loved to move up, lol. All you had to do was make the cost cheap enough because you were taking the lower rated OT anyway. An extra 3rd would have been outstanding when you were getting the guy you targeted anyway.
You sold out to get McNabb and then put him with a LT who will probably not be near his prime until McNabb is gone.
It was the type of move a team does when they are desperate. Desperate teams don't do well for long.
Washington clearly needs to take a sensible, youth-oriented approach. They need to get better, younger, cheaper. McNabb helps with only the better and distracts from the other 2.
