What’s wrong with our D?

In order:

Let’s hope Lawrence is currently playing at only 70-80%. Otherwise, that contract is trouble.

Byron and Chidobe can cover but they have zero ball skills. Chidobe especially gives up Aton of contested catches.

LVE looks decent, not great. Jaylon looks average. These two need to be great.

The likelihood of one our safeties creating a turnover is almost 0.

Two busts at defensive tackle.

I would let Jones walk. It is pathetic lack of ints

Jaylon walking funny? Or is that just me? He’s always had an atypical gait, which makes it hard to tell.
Yardage is used to measure offensive/defensive success. Yes, points tell the story in the present but yardage is a better predictor of performance and future success.

at one point in the 2nd half we had held them to a total of 27yds in the 2nd half.
they are not firing on all cylinders yet...but its slowly getting there.
not worried.
defense in the 2nd half was MUCH better.

I feel that the biggest issue for the defense is the lack of pressure from the interior DL. There were several DTs available in FA including Suh, McCoy, Daniels, and Richardson. I wish that they would stop with the dollar store shopping for DTs.

I know that they drafted Hill. Rookies don't generally start though unless they are straight studs.

They aren't the '85 Bears but I smell some over-reaction in this thread.

Yes indeed.

I can understand though, given all those easy TDs they gave up today.

Oh wait, no they didn't.

But Miami sure did earn those touchdowns today... nothing came easy for them.

Oh wait, that's right, Miami didn't score a touchdown.

Carry on then.

Look, if the offense can keep their end of the bargain, Dallas can be a middle of the pack, pedestrian D in terms of yards allowed between the 20s and just concentrate on holding the opposition to FGs. We're not asking this defense to go out and win a game for us. At least not yet. Sure, that may come up in a playoff game, say, vs. the Rams, or in the SB vs. NE or KC. But we're not there yet, so no need to worry about that now.

Enjoy the ride.

LB’ers nonexistent, DB’s getting torched, dumb penalties. How does it get fixed?

Welp...the list is long...but I'll give it a shot.

1. A lot of it is scheme....
2. Kris Richard is a horrible DB coach. Awuzie is better than what he is showing. He's in position...been taught to play the guy instead of finding the football. There was a reason why Seattle fired him...now I think we see why. He's lived off that Legion of Boom BS long enough.
3. Lbers are all playing out of position. LVE is playing on the strong side now....in space...which makes him irrelevant.
4. Jaylon playing the middle...meh. Only reason why he's there... is because they are afraid he will get exposed in coverage.
5. We don't have any DTs....besides Collins.
6. Our D-line rotation is crap. the one time D-Law and Quinn rush together...we get a sack. D-law should be on the field on every 3rd and long....but he wasn't.
7. Anthony Brown just plain sucks.
8. Coaches play favorites here....regardless if they deserve it or not. I can't blame Taco for wanting out of this little boys club.
9. Rarely do our DBs man up and jump routes. Would rather sit back in a soft zone...and let teams just pick us apart...gambling on a team can't sustain a drive without making a mistake.
10. Injuries have been a factor...but not as bad as the staff would lead you.
11. Rarely do we blitz...and even when we do...other teams see it coming from a mile away.

My feelings exactly.
