Diggs will go after the Ward contract plus some. Thats just how it goes. Maybe FO can work something out earlier.

The two most prominent CB contracts right now are Jaire Alexander and Denzel Ward. Alexanders is 4 years, 84 million with 30 guarenteed. Wards is 5 years, 100 million with 40 guarenteed at signing and 70 in total guarantees.

With Diggs contract, I can see it looking like 4 years, 90 million with 35 to 40 guarenteed
He's worth it. But I can't wait for half of our genius fan base to not want him to get paid because he doesn't average 11 INT a year oh and he gives up way to many yards lol

Diggs and Parsons are why we probably don’t pay Pollard and (potentially) Lamb.

They’ll both need Olympic sized swimming pools filled with money, and are both worth it.
Unless, Zeke either takes a big paycut or gets released. That's how Pollard could get paid to stay.

Sounds crazy, but you trade lamb for a 1 and 3. Can’t pay them all and diggs and parsons are way more important.
Because UDFAs like Rod Smith and Wes Welker do not happen often enough, if they did, top WRs would not be demanding top dollar contracts, their values would drop.
So you think that CD, our only receiver worthy of WR1 status that his equivalent value is a 1st and 3rd round pick... lol
This isnt fantasy football, and no knock-on FF, I find it to be very entertaining and educates you on every player in the leagues value, but understand, just suggesting FF as a learning resource for player value, and in no way am I trading CD away for draft picks that represent nothing more than unknowns.

Really want not about money it was about length of contract . Cowboys wanted 5 years and Dak 4. Money was not a sticking point
Thats always been the aggravation about the deal was the term and the no tag clauses.
Money was never a deterrent from my fandom view.

I don't know how I feel about paying Diggs.

On one hand, he's a baller, no questions asked. You can't even put the boom-or-bust label on him... he's tightened his coverage up big time this year, and he's still making boom plays. At his age and with these last two seasons he's having, $20M a year is just fair market value.

But coverage is a weakest-link game. Diggs can lock his man down, but if the rookie Mike Jenkins Jr. is giving up 3 steps of separation, the offense will still move the ball. It's just like run blocking, it only takes one guy whiffing to blow up the play. You want to spread your cap dollars in the secondary (and OL) wide instead of thin in a studs-or-scrubs model. If you pay Diggs and let Lewis and Brown go, you are going for studs-and-scrubs.

Pretty good and interesting post. Diggs is balling out this year…I thought last year he was incredibly overrated due to his boom or bust nature but he’s not giving up anything this year. I’d argue this year he’s playing like a top 3/5 CB in football.

I agree with your post to an extent, but I’d also argue if Diggs can shadow #1s and keep them modest it might be worth it. You also have the pass rush makes the DB room better vice versa argument.

Realy ? getting torched 50% of the time is worth paying out the highest CB contract ....

I love Diggs but I would trade him if we could get 2 1's or a 1st and a 2nd.

I mean he's worth it.

Won't have an issue like I had with Daks.

Diggs, Parsons. Those are guys you pay

You also pay QBs and the QB market dictated what Dak got paid and the same thing will happen with Diggs. You have little choice but to pay these players the going rate or you take a major hit at a key position.

Hell I would trade Diggs, only problem is no team would be willing to give me what I want in return. lol Any player is tradeable at the right price it is just sometimes the price is too high for anyone to take it. Get Minn on the phone
This logic is why most Cowboy fans are laughed at

Yet another fan that doesn’t want to pay players. Dumb move to move on from a terrific player who’s getting better every year for a couple of draft picks that could end up going bust. Diggs is one of the reasons our defense has improved. If it was up to some fans on this board the Cowboys would be picking in the top 10 every year. I’ve seen at least two Looney Tunes who want to trade Parsons because of what it’s going to cost to re-sign him. They would rather take their chances with a few draft picks then hang onto a future Hall of Fame player.

Diggs will be a free agent after the 2023 Season. This is what the Cowboys 2024 Free Agent class looks like now. Of course whatever 1 year deals are done next year would be added to this list. There are a few guys on this list we are going to want to sign along with Diggs. Keep in mind the following year Dak will be a free agent and he could be asking for a huge contract.

2024 Free Agents:
CeeDee Lamb, WR 24 UFA (Cowboys could pick up his Option Year)
Tyler Biadasz, C 26 UFA
Dorance Armstrong, DE 26 UFA
Neville Gallimore, DT 26 UFA
Trevon Diggs, CB 25 UFA
Malik Hooker, S 27 UFA
Jayron Kearse, S 29 UFA
Will Grier, QB 28 UFA
Tyron Smith, OT 33 UFA
Jourdan Lewis, CB 28 UFA
