Realy ? getting torched 50% of the time is worth paying out the highest CB contract ....
You must not be old enough to remember when we didn't have DBs who could get there heads around and actually get INTs. Now we have a guy who does that yes he gives up yards but he makes up for it. How about this let's just play with Bland and Brown next year!!!

Diggs will be a free agent after the 2023 Season. This is what the Cowboys 2024 Free Agent class looks like now. Of course whatever 1 year deals are done next year would be added to this list. There are a few guys on this list we are going to want to sign along with Diggs. Keep in mind the following year Dak will be a free agent and he could be asking for a huge contract.

2024 Free Agents:
CeeDee Lamb, WR 24 UFA (Cowboys could pick up his Option Year)
Tyler Biadasz, C 26 UFA
Dorance Armstrong, DE 26 UFA
Neville Gallimore, DT 26 UFA
Trevon Diggs, CB 25 UFA
Malik Hooker, S 27 UFA
Jayron Kearse, S 29 UFA
Will Grier, QB 28 UFA
Tyron Smith, OT 33 UFA
Jourdan Lewis, CB 28 UFA

That's not bad.. Easy call. The only ones i would be interested in resigning are Lamb, Diggs and Armstrong. The rest can be replaced with cheaper talent and can go kick rocks. I like Hooker, but someone on the roster will be able to take over.

The two most prominent CB contracts right now are Jaire Alexander and Denzel Ward. Alexanders is 4 years, 84 million with 30 guarenteed. Wards is 5 years, 100 million with 40 guarenteed at signing and 70 in total guarantees.

With Diggs contract, I can see it looking like 4 years, 90 million with 35 to 40 guarenteed

I can Digg it. :D

You fans that are wanting to trade away great players because you don’t want to pay them and think that’s the route to winning a Super Bowl you haven’t been paying attention lately. Teams are trading away picks for great players to win a Super Bowl. Everyone is looking at with the Rams did last season by going all in. They built their Super Bowl team by trading away draft picks for players. There were around 12 trades at the trade deadline, the most ever because teams are looking to get to the Super Bowl with proven players. A draft pick doesn’t guarantee you anything. Bad teams that are going nowhere want draft picks to build for the future. Your odds are no better than 50-50 with any player you draft that they’re going to end up being a great player. I’m certainly not saying trade all your draft picks for players, but this idea of trading away a great player for a couple of draft picks is stupid when you have a good football team that’s in contention.

Depends on how well a team drafts and if their coaching staff does well with young players.

The other side of that is the overall strength of the team to be able to withstand trading away a 5 star like Parsons or a 4 like Diggs. What's left to build around?

The Rams got a pay off with their moves, the Eagles, with that Dream Team, didn't and others have failed to buy one in the past.

KC and SEA traded away stars and they're fine. SEA really nailed this last draft.

Diggs will be higher and probably 50 guaranteed.
Diggs will be highest paid CB
Micah will be the highest paid defensive player
And some guys ain’t gonna get signed
Have to keep drafting well because them guys are getting paid

The trade deadline coming later enables teams to figure out exactly what kind of team they have before they make a move. The negative with trading for veteran players is you have to pay them. if you draft a player, you get them on a cheap rookie deal for a few years. The Rams winning a championship last season by trading draft picks for veteran players has gotten more teams trying to do it this year.

Aight y’all ain’t gonna like this !
I do not want to see him leave .
However when a good team comes up against him they will light him up !
He is not a great cover guy , you all should know that. Don’t let the picks
Get in the way of the thought process of that.
The pass rush makes his play better than it is .
Maybe that makes since some of you.
Put him on the commanders is he good ?

I mean he's worth it.

Won't have an issue like I had with Daks.

Diggs, Parsons. Those are guys you pay

I totally agree.

You pay Diggs. Because he's the kind of player you win Super Bowls with. Smart player. Brings more than just his individual play.

For crying out loud, Diggs actually went to prep school..

Pay the market value.
Pay in a reworked contract as soon as possible.
If no this year, Diggs is central to a Super Bowl run.

Only way you trade Diggs away is if you are building 1st round draft picks in future years because you plan to cut or trade Dak after 2023 and you need to move up to grab a QB. Diggs is only going to get better, so why risk losing a perennial All-Star for a "hope" you can get a good player in the draft.

Diggs has earned it. He's been fantastic.

With that said, it's absolutely insane to watch the inflation of these contracts over the years. When do we see a player hit a 500 million dollar contract? 15-20 years?

This comment after seeing how badly we have needed Dak year after recent year when backups have had to play while Dak misses time due to injury?
I agree that Dak is overpaid. Shouldn't be getting more than $30 mil/season, but that fault falls on Jerry since he tagged Dak TWICE before being forced to overpay after the anté had gone up repeatedly due to Jerry's repeated denials. Jerry could have had Dak signed for $27 mil/season had he been smart enough to resign Dak during Dak's last year (4th) of his original rookie contract. So if you and other Dak haters want to blame anyone, put the blame where it truly deserves: Jerry Jones.

We never tried to get a true replacement or true competition for Dak. Partly because of possibly hurting his feelings

If we didn't pay Diggs, or we don't plan to, we would try and get someone high in the 1-2 rounds or FA.
.we haven't done that with QB. So the backups we have will either look exactly like him or play lesser

Lamb's market value is almost 21 million. If he was AJ Brown, I'd say pay it. But he's not. I'm kind of on the fence when it comes to him. He's a good durable WR. The Cowboys would at least have to replace him if they don't pay him. But they can worry about that 2 years from now.

I'm all for getting quality competition at our most important position just in case it is needed. Did you feel this way during Romo's 10 years as a starter? Be honest.
