We are expecting a first round pick to look like a first round pick. He is supposed to get tackles, and he isn't doing that at all. He is also not clogging anything up either. I don't know where you guys got this idea of the starting DT that is just there to take up space. Nobody looks for a tackle who only does that, and even if that were what we wanted Smith isn't providing that. He is getting dominated by scrubs.
Poor coaching, bad draft pick, he is waiting for reg season, who knows, we will find out in reg season.

Thank you. I was going to post about Deuce.
Other than his 14 yard TD fantastic run. He was disappointing. He really did not do much. He had on other ok run. But everything else he was stuffed.
Same for his KO returns, he did not do much. I know he is not out there with the starters, but still show a little more than he did.

Though I still think he can be good at times, but no way is he the RB #2. Not at this point.

Mazi did nothing. Grier sucks. I don't know why they don't have a 4th QB to compete with him. Just another coaching staff / FO stupidity things.
I know you've heard me say this all week about deuce, he wouldn't have the same kind of game, we shall see how it goes. All the highlight films all show the good plays, people need to watch the other game film and show where he gets stuffed

You mean the plays when the backup linemen don't block? What happens when the starters do block?

Coog, how many O-line starters did we have in on his runs? Every RB gets stuffed. This kid has the ability to break a big run every time he touches the ball.

I see people saying this, but I wonder what you guys were expecting??
He isnt here to get sacks, it is to clog up the middle and help stop hurts on those qb sneaks.
It would help if his transmission didn’t go into reverse on so many plays.

....and people on here claim I am the angry one :lmao::huh:

Interesting seeing how you used the OL as an excuse to defend Deuce when pointed out that, outside of 2 long runs, he has averaged barely 2 YPC this preseason while Dowdle has averaged nearly 4 YPC outside of his long runs. Just saying.
MM said this about Duece "He looks just like he did at K State"
Now, the duece fans will read that as, see Duece is a lock because, well just go watch those hilight reels.
Duece critics will read that as, he looks like basically a 7th round draft pick who cranked off a few long runs, was stuffed a lot, was a major liability in pass pro and never returned kicks.
No one will answer my question as to why duece has yet to play in the first half. Yet some firmly believe not only does he make the team, he will be RB2.
And where is he on special teams? As a personal protector? He again returned a KO that he shouldnt have. Bobbled it and then barely made it to the 20.
He has yet to field a punt. They even had Tolbert out there at the end. He looked pretty good.
If duece makes the team, it will be a total PR thing. And it will be BS. Because simply based on depth chart and playing time, MM doesnt have duece in the top 3. And that may even be top 4, depending on the RoJo situation.
You wont hear answers for any of this here.
They will call out his run, where you could drive a truck through. But blame the blocking for any negative run.
The one time he tried to pass block, he got embarrassed and yet the fans thought he did a good job.
I have never, in my 45 years of watching football, seen so much praise heaped onto a comp 6th round pick who has barely played in PS. And when he has, its been against mostly guys who wont be on rosters.
And those same folks are now bold enough to proclaim that he should sit out the next preseason game. That he is locked in at RB2 and lets keep him fresh for the first game.
How does this pass the common sense test? Name another 6th round pick who was just handed a free pass from "fans".

Not hating on the kid as I, as a fan, hope you lives up to all the praise. That said, I have read many comments saying he got stuffed because of poor OL play given they are 'scrubs' and wait until he runs behind the starting OL....the same OL they blamed last season for Dak's failures.....so it seems a case of selective blame for many.

Ask Dowdle and Davis how it was running behind the second team OL against both Jax and Seattle's first team defenses.
Basically the same line duece ran behind.
Notice how both Dowdle and Davis just hit the hole, ran through contact and ground out yards.
Duece will look to avoid contact. He has all his life. He knows he looses that battle.
If he doesnt see a gapping hole, he wants to bounce it. Moving laterally behind the LOS in this league most likely means loosing yards.
You need to be running forward and exploding through the slightest of creases. That means breaking arm tackles and YAC. Pollard was one of the league leaders in YAC. Duece will be at the bottom, should he make a team.
The short, two yard first down is an example. He is immediately stopped on contact. Always getting knocked back.
He does excel in open space. Hes shifty. But in the NFL, to get to that open space you have to bang through a few very large, very fast grown arse men.
