What about Lee's contact?

Blown knee is one thing but this is his 2nd blown knee, plus the 9000 other injuries he has had, mentally he has to be close to being done, you just cant live your life rehabbing without going nuts

So Sean Lee is going to walk away from millions and millions of dollars and the game he loves before he even turns 30 because of an unlucky slip of the knee? Yeah, not going to happen. The knee will take time, but he can recover 100% just like the dozens of guys before him that have come back.

I understand what you're saying and agree that he is the type if guy that just may never be healthy, but he's not retiring yet. I suspect Sean Lee is the type of guy that would hit for even suggesting he should stop playing football.

Sure but you look at our lbs and I can't see a reason why you can't have him there in 15 for depth. He's not making a huge 2015 salary, his bonus escalators are shot, and Carter is likely gone. Can't count on him to lead the D but competing for one of the lb spots is a positive

I fully expect for this season Dallas will put him on IR for the season. Myself to be honest I would be looking hard for a MLB in next years draft. I think this is a big season for Carter and I would expect to see him getting a lot of snaps at MLB. If he can do the job then I think he likely will return. I like Lee a lot but we can't depend on him

And he won't take up a roster spot on injured reserve, and will be another LB coach/mentor (albeit an expensive one).
All he can do is coach his *** off -- we might have something for the future, but for now we'll develop the young-uns and find out who steps up.

Hitchens is the kind of guy who can do this.

Yes.. He is, and he's been durable at Iowa too

Is sean Lee making 12 million dollars to put 6 sacks on the field? This is nothing like Ware. He has a reasonable contract so screw it let him get healthy and get him back next season

Its like Ware not being able to play..

..always something..

and yes

We is due to be paid a lot in contract in future years nd we need to move on.

Same thing with Miles Austin.

The team needs to face its mistake and correct them.

I don't see him ever playing again

2014: $750,000 (+ $4.75 million "signing" bonus)
2015: $2.5 million,
2016: $3 million,
2017-2019: $7 million
2020: Free Agent

does it go away if he retires

He does not remotely seem like someone who would retire at this age.
Theoretically, maybe something like recurring concussion issues would make him consider it due to the severe long term consequences, but not the ACL.
He love the game way too much.

True I think the issue is not coming back from this injury it is the fact that he has yet to play a season without an injury that would knock him out for half a season. Even in college. I love watching Lee play the guy is a great player Dallas can't rely on him

This. I am the champ of patience. My profession and being a Dad make me somewhat of an expert at it. I love Lee. I wish that he could stay up. When the defense is on the field and he's with them, my eyes gravitate to him because he is always making some waves. He really is a pro bowl caliber player when he's healthy. However, sh** in one hand wish in the other and see which one gets filled first. It's time to move on.

Honestly, I'd cut ties next season and take the 2.5 hit. At least you're getting out while he's at his cheapest. Keeping a guy who's got two blown knees as a bench warmer is pointless. Yet, it's also pointless to keep him in the starting role when he can't stay on the field. You need a consistent defensive "QB" on the field.

Securing up a player with Lees type of injury History was a pure genius move by the GM.

Getting 32 starts and 46 games played is already a win for a 2nd round pick. And he'll be 28 when he comes back next year and has 2 cheap years on his deal left.

Sean Lee will be 29 before next season begins and will never have played a full season.

He started 15 games in 2011. He missed Week 8 with a dislocated wrist, but finished the rest of the season.

Romo has played 16 games in just 4 of his 10 seasons, he needs to go I guess.

You take what you can get from these guys. They are the best players on the field when they play, so unless someone beats them out, you give them another chance.

Count your blessings. At least there was some playing time incentive built in. A least it was not another Ratliff or Austin contract.

Yet, I am willing to bet that, overall, The Rat and even Miles Austin, logged more time on the field.
Face it: The expecations for Lee, who was severely injured in college, were too high. Now we are saddled with a player who all say is talented but can't stay healthy enough to prove his fans correct.

I am no fan of Romo's. Yet I half to say that Romo has produced for us. He has been on the field waaaaaaay more than Lee. As an offensive player, Romo takes a lot of hits. As a defensive player, Lee half turned the tables and he is the one getting hit and injured. Maybe Lee should consider his overall and future health and call it a career.
Or saddle some other team with his contract, because we half expended way too much for a meager return on Lee.

I've read several sources saying it's a triad. ACL, MCL and medial meniscus. May be career ender. You would almost hope so, as to not pay that stupid salary.

Let's just say it was a pancake block. Let him retire to count his money and blessings that he is still young and relatively healthy (for a civilian).

It's hard to take someone seriously when they pose misleading arguments like that since they aren't even remotely comparable.

It goes without saying that Romo was not a full-time starter for his first four seasons. Since 2007, Romo has missed 14 of the last regular season 112 games he's played (12.5%). Lee has missed 18 of his last 46 (over 39%).

After the end of this season, Lee will have missed more games than he's played at 34 of 62 (almost 55%). Think about that. Going into 2015, Lee will be a year away from 30 and will have only played in 45% of regular season games since coming into the league.

It's considerably more than 2.5. 2.5 is his base salary. It would make more sense to see if he can come back in 2015 and cut him after that if he doesn't do well.

Not really concerned whether you take me seriously or not, I'm just giving facts.

Lee has gotten hurt a lot and it sucks. but he has enough talent and ability that he is worth keeping, just like Romo.

And you are doing the same exact thing by representing his age as 'nearly 30' to help make your point. As if 30 is the magic number that all players stop playing well.
