What are some realistic ways to fix this team?

Besides the obvious (hire a real GM), how would you fix this team going forward?

For me we need upgrades at these positions (in order):

1. QB

2. DT

3. RT

4. LG (im leaving Tyler at Tackle and forcing Tyron to retire)

5. CB2

Now the obvious issue with trying to upgrade those positions, is the stupid team-building philosophy adopted by dumb and dumber (drafting only). We wont be able to fix both lines in one offseason because they dont even try in free agency.

Id also change the Head Coach. Obviously, its damn near impossible for any coach to thrive here with the insane owner, but we need a new voice on offense. Kellen has to go, and as long as Fat Mike is here, so will he.

None of those work because you can't realistically fix this team. There's only one true fix and that isn't ever going to happen.

I think we are going to have to tank this season to help with that. I don't think this loss is entirely on Dak, but, sadly, I think we may need to draft a QB to try to bring in some competition to get prepared as Dak, I think, has two years left on his deal. However, we are going to need the best olineman at either LT or LG we can get, and we need WR. I think WR is probably our biggest need. We have no WRs, and Dak had nowhere to go with the ball. So, I'd probably say this for my list of needs:

  1. Ot/OG
  2. WR
  3. WR again
  4. DT
  5. CB
WR our biggest need??

Ceedee, Gallup, and James Washington is a decent WR core

Sell the team to someone not named Jones, fire the entire coaching staff and hire Payton and his own hand picked staff (including his own oc), relook at all the players on the team and their realistic chances at being the future. The only one that would be safe in my eyes would be Parsons.

A new OC would be sweet. We’ve seen this offense for far too long. Won’t help this season, but let Mike or the QB coach call plays for the remainder of the year.

I would trade also trade Pollard and maybe Schultz and try to get some draft picks now. We’re gonna lose them anyway.

Gallup, Tolbert, and Washington didn't play last night. I think the result might've been different if they'd been able to play. As it stands, who knows what Gallup will do when healthy? Washington is injury prone, and Tolbert is a rookie. So yes, I'd say WR is a massive need.

That is an excellent point about Polly and Schultz. I like both, but taking nice draft picks would help us a ton more in the long run.

there really is not any with the whole system so mess up with jerry and stephen

the only really good way to kind of not fix it but make up for it is a real franchise qb

bengals are like cowboys with stupid owner is also gm but getting burrow let them do better for at least a season haha

Remember when Mixon and Perine run all over this D once they get tired from being on the field all the time that we could have had them instead of Zeke and Pollard.

Short term:

Drop all the extra pretty crap on offense. Go boring run heavy, alternate runs with both backs and cooper mixing it in a few times. Have him drive the bus and not play like he did last night gunslinging it.

I think the defense will improve from this week. I'm thinking they just played the best team in the NFC and their offense roster reads like a fantasy team roster. Let's see how they do against a few other teams.

If our D can hold teams to 20 or less a week and we can get some points off turnovers, we have a chance of winning some of these games. If we bus drive a run heavy offense and the O can have 35 min of possession a game, that will help the D.

Long Term:

What's the point of winning a few more games this season if we are just trying to stay in the wild card race for when Dak gets back. What are we going to see different with a Dak and Kellen offense then what we saw tonight?

So if you made it this far, what I'm saying is, a well coached team can manage this crisis but we aren't that and what would be the point anyways?

It's funny this should be a topic of conversation after the very first game. The flaws were already there but respectfully to the op the off season was the time to fix this team. Might as well roll with what we got this year.

I think you can say that about any QB. Honestly, compared to other QBs, Dak's deal isn't all that bad, and Jerry knew he was going to have to do that at some point. So, again, that's not Dak's fault. This is Jerry's fault.
Doesn’t change the fact that Dak sux!

I could see last year Lamb was no #1 because of the drops. Cooper wasn't the answer and lacked fire but he had talent. Why isn't Dallas relying on their running game considering it looked fairly decent to start the game and they just went away from it for periods of time.

Been saying this hes a SLOT WR his routes are not great and his speed is very questionable and like
you said drops way too many passes

Having another QB won't help until we get better WRs and a new OC who other DC can't figure out easily. Even Rodgers looked like crap without decent WRs yesterday.

Is no place to go with the ball.....a function of scheme, of wr talent or qb talent.....or combo of all id say

K.Moore refuses us of rub, pre snap motion, stack or bunch sets
...why?
....personell cant consistently remember...or perform
Qb cannot ?

The problem is, that is no "way" to fix this team. No matter the suggestions, there is no "way" forward.

There are many ways "sidewards," but no way forward, for this team.

Right now…
Go after Jimmy G
Put Peters at LT
Put Smith at LG
Get Gallup back
Better playcalling—stick w/ running.
Put Turpin outside and take some shots.

Next year…draft OL, DT, QB

I wouldn't be able to tell you. I think we really should get a new OC though.
