I think we have been better off with McClay then any previous time when JJ was running the whole show. we have definitely improved in the area of contracts and salary.

So McClay controls contracts and salaries?

Tell me more.

We've built a good young team, and he's been part of that. Nothing that happened last year changes any of that as far as I'm concerned. It's not like we need to find QBs or WRs with stronger bones.

I dont know how good he is because I dont how decisions are arrived at, or who makes them.

And that is the glory of it.

Nobody is directly accountable.

They can't be. It is all a "group decision". "Jerry listens".

And even if things go bad, Jones can take the bullet for his subordinates. And we all know his level of accountability, which is something south of zero.

I just remember when the deal around here was that Ciskowski was the real rain maker.

Good times.

I think you are projecting.

McClay was probably nodding like everyone else when Jerry and Stephen Jones gave their final free agency pep talk a few days ago.

I thought McClay was getting credited with our frugal FA approach?

By some, probably. There tend to be a lot of opinions on message boards.

The opinion on Ciskowski was never universal either. It just seems that way when people pretend it was in retrospect.

Why does it follow for you guys that if nobody is specifically responsible then nobody is generally responsible? That makes no sense at all.

I liked Ciskowski until the whole Shariff Floyd mess. Made me go back and question everything he did before hand

I read that allt here during FA Meltdown 2015. " Dont Worry Guys, McClay will find more Jeremy Mincey's"

Did you now? You don't say? Was it right next to the post saying he was an idiot for signing Mincey in the first place? Because I'm pretty sure that sentiment was probably expressed, too.

He appears to be enamored with back-up's from bad teams. It might be the Arena League in him, but he seems to target guys who were waived or given up on by other teams. I think Jerry likes that he's "gambling" on these hidden gems and who cares if most of them prove to be the nothings they already were if you can just find one George Selvie and 7 sacks.

Jeremy Mincey, Mackenzy Bernadeua, Nate Livings, Brodney Pool, Andrew Gachkar, Jasper Brinkley are all some of his finest work.

Another in a long series of yes men for Jerry. He's the flavor of the month, before it was Barry Switzer and other dinosaurs.

The reality is, we don't have the visibility to know who's responsible for which decisions, anyway. And we can't really trust what's reported. Everyone wants credit after the fact, and hindsight is 20/20. All we can really do fairly is judge the whole front office collectively.

And I still think we do a good job scouting these days, overall.

Polarizing conceptions doesnt mean there arent still conceptions. There is a line in the sand in fandom and most fans gravite to ine side or the other. Sometimes a few will stay in the middle

Selvie was a 7th rounder, we can't sign everybody just because ESPN and NFL Network says they're good. The guys signed today were available for a reason, either their old team couldn't afford them or didn't want them anymore.

Yes he was, but remember his teammate in college Jpp? Selvie was suppost to better than and won Big East DPOY as a Freshman I believe.

I disagree. I think we try to create patterns from the variety of opinions because we're comfortable with lines in sand and the spectrum of actual collective opinions is difficult to work with conceptually.

For example, no matter how hard I bash our defensive performance and our decisions under Garrett re the defensive staff, I'm lumped in as a guy who never says anything bad about the team. It's not because of my position on the team. It's because most of the time when I post, I'm defending the team against what I think is a crazy criticism.

The reality has always been that there's been a variety of opinions on both McClay and Ciskowsky.
