I'd try to keep him, but I wouldn't sweat it.
RBs are relatively easy to find.

Let’s say due to financial implications you can’t keep Tony and Zeke. Do you:
a. Draft a replacement for Zeke next draft.
b. Draft a replacement for Tony next draft
c. Pray that Tony takes a low ball offer..

Fake news...you must boot your computer to look into the future.

And when he looks average as a starter more and more of our posters here that think they are general managers and experts at talent will look even worse than they do now lol.
It’s about the line. Zeke may look average elsewhere as well

stop it. It’s about not blowing assignments and executing blocks. You never see zeke blow an assignment like pollard did vs Minnesota
Zeke is a better blocker but he blows blocking assignments as well. In fact he blew one in Minnesota game as well it just wasn’t as costly as pollards

i didn’t say he was a free agent in 2022. I said draft a replacement in 2022.

His contract will not expire until 2023.

28 is the magical age of decline for the majority of RBs.

Zeke isn’t getting the workload of the majority of RB1s. If he were, he’d be leading the league in rushing. He’s in the best shape of his life and isn’t injury prone. IF he can maintain his conditioning and not be asked to carry the rock 25x/game, I don’t expect significant decline.

Hopefully we can keep him but it's gonna be difficult

Pollard? Way too soon to tell. What he does the balance of this year and then next year will determine not only his FA value, but his value to us as well.

B. Draft a replacement. He is not a stud back. He’s a robin to a Batman

Zekes 2022 Money is already guaranteed. His potential out is 2023 where imo he will be cut.

Which takes me to the Pollard situation. I dont think Pollard will get big money on the open market.
He was never used as the featured back so teams will shy away handing out a big contract.

I dont think (with this coaching staff) we value the RB position. We will draft one in 2022 regardless wether Pollard signs a low budget contract with us or not.
If Pollard does not sign he will be gone in 2022. We will have a draft pick RB and Zeke and we will again look see in 2023. If Pollard signs we will start Pollard and a draft pick in 2023.

I agree but I really like I see, he runs with alot if energy, has a knack for avoiding tackles, and just seems to make good decisions on the field. I think it will be difficult only because Dallas seems to have drafted solidly. Lamb, unless he regresses is one I think we really need to keep and if Diggs keeps playing as he has then there's another high dollar contract. Let's just hope Jerruh doesn't waste more money on Jacqlyn Smith type deals.

It took him a year for the coaches to get him to quit returning kickoffs out of the endzone. I think he runs on instincts but his decision making is not his strength.

I’m not nearly as harsh on the Smith draft choice as many folks are. He made a pro bowl and was a 1st team all pro. I think something happened that we don’t have all the info on. Regardless, he’s gone and deserved to be. I’m just saying I don’t have a problem with an occasional gamble. Sure looked like it was going to work out in his pro bowl year, but all downhill after that.

By the time Lamb’s contract ends after ‘23, we have other contracts expiring. If he’s That Guy, we’ll find a way to keep him.

If the FO keeps drafting well, it gives us lots of room to work. If Dak remains That Guy, he’ll be high dollar after the ‘24 season. By that time, Cooper and Zeke’s contracts are done, so we’ll see. Those cheap draft choices are so key in keeping the ball rolling. That’s why I thought what the Rams gave for Miller was excessive, especially with the way they intend to play him. They either get to and win the SB this year, maybe next or that was a crazy price to pay.

But what do I know. I post on a fan message board.

imagine though having Zeke and Henry instead of a gimpy linebacker who was compromised. Imagine having Henry to step in and save our 2017 season when Zeke got suspended. Imagine having Henry at RB2 instead of Alf Morris/Darren Mcfadden in 2016-2019.

They should just cut Zeke and Pollard after this season. We have Rico Dowdle.
Not too fast on cutting Zeke. He cost a pretty penny, but he still might be needed.

I like to tell people that if you don't have a RB that you can trust to carry the ball 26 times a game then you don't have a RB. Demarco Murray was said to be injury prone. The Cowboys never ran him like they should have, because they didn't trust him to stay healthy. If a team doesn't trust their RB then how can they have a grade A rushing attack?

So some want us to get rid of Zeke and keep Pollard. But is this front office going to trust Pollard to carry the ball 26 times a game? That trust issue could be a problem.

I don't know if Pollard or Dowdle can handle the work load, but I know Zeke can.

Both Zeke and Pollard will be here for 2022. I don't expect Zeke to be here in 2023. I don't know about Pollard.

They can extend Pollard after this season, or give him a new contract after the next. Either way, how much does he expect? Derrick Henry gets 12 million a year. I like Pollard, but I'm not sure he gets half that contract.
