What do you think of a trade for Mettenberger?

What's your point? You got a better way then spell it out.
Atlanta didn't want him and GB traded for him.

But GB traded a 1st rounder, if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't do that for Mettenberger, though I do like him.

Mettenberger was always a project in college and floundered around on unmet potential.
He was considered anything but mature and professional.

So no I have zero desire to mess with him. Could he put it all together and be a useful pro? Yes.
Is he still a project and was he just tossed aside for another rookie QB? Yes.

The Favre comparison is interesting but also almost outlandish. Favre was a once in a lifetime talent with maturity issues.
Mettenberger is a solid talent with maturity issues.

I am not sure about this particular player. But i like the idea. I have liked Tannehill these last few years and wondered about trading for him before he has become a top 8 QB. He is obviously more prolific. But if the idea is to spend a 1st or trade up in the 1st and spend more, may aswell trade for a more NFL proven player that you like.

It'd be more like a 4th or 5th rounder, I would think

That was my thinking too. IIRC he was a 4th rounder. He didn't play horribly or anything like that, but I also don't see anything that significantly increased his value (plus there is 1 less year on his rookie deal).

And they'd take the one better than the other offer. Man, you overanalyze comments too much.

They won't get any offers of a 1st round pick and definitely not two. If somebody did offer a 1st there is no possibility they would say "please wait, we might get a better offer".

I too have zero desire to get him on the Cowboys. Wasted college potential, hasn't proven he's worth a 4th rounder yet. Why did Ten draft Mariodo?

No Thanks....work with what you have, and see where that goes first.

I think it's unlikely that TEN trades a QB until they are sure they have a starter between them, but a guy *like* Mettenberger ought to be the target for us going forward. Or somebody better. Starting with this year's draft, we're officially in the market for a guy to develop. There are candidates available every year if you're just willing to spend too high a pick for one.

Good point. Can't say that I am enamored with players that request trades/being cut even before any competition has taken place.

In fairness, when the competition involves a guy drafted 2nd overall and you are a 6th round pick, the playing field is not exactly level. The GM of the team has a pretty vested interest in you not winning.

Mettenberger is only 23. He played pretty well with a bad Titan's team last year and he has the size and arm strength you want in a QB. He is young enough to sit on the bench and learn behind Romo for a few years and still be young enough when it is time to step in and play. He would also have obvious advantages here, like a solid offensive line that could help him succeed.

I think it might be worth a shot if the price is right.

He does not need to set behind anyone. He want to start the same way he did last year.

Young, big and strong. Had a decent season with a mediocre team last year and is now expendable after the Titans drafting Mariota.

I think it might be worth it if we can get him for a decent investment.

Gift them Lee, Mo and a 5th rounder for Mettenberger.

Any picks used to get Mettenberger would be wasted picks. Might as well keep them and use those picks to move up into next years draft and get a QB.

7th? or a 6th? is he the long term answer? or the back up. if he was any good a QB hungry team like titans would have kept him and traded their 2nd pick to acquire bunch of other picks and players and they didn't so that should tell you a lot.

You stated that you wanted only a trade for a RB, which you think would help us this year. We also know what RB you want, which will not help us in the future because he is 30 years old.

You know nothing I am on record stating I am for Mason, Martin. Poor fella.
