What do you think of Hitchens?

Very good in the box...still have questions about him elsewhere though.

I bashed the pick big time and have no problem admitting I was wrong. If he turns into a good 2 down linebacker it was a good pick.

After 14 games, what do you guys think of him? I must say i wasn't happy with that pick during the draft, but I've changed my mind, Zack Martin has had a tremendous year as a rookie but one can argue Hitchens has been equally as important.

Nobody with any sense would argue Hitchens has been as important as martin. Lol what a joke that is

He is doing what a 4th round pick should be doing….good depth, role player and hope they can develop into a full time starter.

I think the pick got ripped as bad as it did simply because of some of the things that came out the GM's mouth about the pick.

We just may have picked the 4th best LB of that draft class. You have LBs Mack, Barr and Mosley picked in the 1st round who are much better. What do you have with Pgh LB Shazier? He pretty much disappeared after a strong pre-season (I think). Haven't heard much from Shazier lately. And then the Eagles took LB Marcus Smith in the 1st. Well, so far, Hitchens is better than the Eagles 1st rd LB Smith in my eyes.

Chris borland has been the best lb

shhhhh, Jerry is responsible for only the bad picks. you must not have gotten the memo. lol

Still true regardless of how good any of the picks turn out.

All you need to know about Jerry Jones the talent evaluator is this:

This team drafted perhaps one of the best guards in the league. Jerry was not only viably disappointing in the pick, but proceeded to hype and pine for Cleveland's back-up quarterback for next 4 months.

Thought he was worse pick in draft, boy was I wrong. He's going to be a very good player for us for a long time

Loved in preseason on..

he just looks like an NFL lber.

Hitchens has insanely good instincts for a rookie. I see a really good player for many years to come.

He reminds me of Dexter Coakley.
Good ole designated Dex. I am not looking forward to Hitch for Suh trade threads.

Risen is probably still holding onto his idea that Hitchens and Fred could have been drafted several rounds later.

I envision Fred someday at his Hall of Fame induction with Risen in the audience screaming "it does not matter what he did in the NFL, the Cowboys wasted a 1st on him when they could have had him in the 4th".

I see you've taken the Idgit approach of entirely making things up.

Someone kindly tell our resident Youtube scout that I supported the Frederick pick. That I was talking about Frederick months before the draft.

BTW, Hitchens is a scrub. Much like Jermey Parnell. You need to burn that spreadsheet.

Did not know anything bout the player when he was picked, so did not get all the vitriol that was thrown at the pick. When I went and looked at his college film he looked like a player. Happy with his year and think he has exceeded expectations. Solid, effort player. Not going to be a star, but looks like he will develop into a solid LB'er for us. It looks like his football intelligence has helped out this year =, as he was thrust into playing early.

My thoughts exactly, reminds me of DD Lewis.

A 4th rounder who can step onto the field and not embarass himself as a rookie is an above average return. Most 4th rounders do not pan out and only time will tell what role Hitchens will end up playing. He may not have a high ceiling as a player but a guy who can play all 3 LB positions as a rookie, fill the gaps in the running game, not look lost in zone and play with hustle he shows is a pretty good find at that spot in the draft.

There's no question Hitchens has exceeded expectations from most of us. Nevertheless, he has development that is sorely due in the area of coverage that could really put him over the hump. For a rookie, he's done well and has proven to be a quick study. That's about all that could fairly be expected at this point in his career.

I don't focus on him specifically, but I noticed him doing well in coverage on several plays against the Eagles.

Pleasantly surprised, exceeded all my expectations, the dude makes plays. I believe he can adequately backup any of the following: Lee, McClain, and Durant. At times he has shown more promise than Carter. In short we are set at LB.. We need DE's, DT's, and a corner to replace Carr.....

RS, I just don't get your hard stance on this one. I get your value argument, but there is ALWAYS a chance that at least one other team (and that's all it takes) sees the same things you see in a player.

In Hitchens I see a guy who is at least adequate at 4 different positions as a rookie. He's a decent special teams player, and probably most importantly, he's giving meaningful snaps now. If he never improves AT ALL, it was a good 4th round pick.

He's a significant upgrade over Orie Lemon, Cam Lawrence, Caleb McSturdy, Ernie Sims, and roughly on par with Bruce Carter. He may not be a superstar, but he's not a gaping black hole on the field either.

With this team's recent 4th round history, I probably would have been happy with a reliable FG holder.

I don't know how long you've been here, but I'll warn you that RS hates everything related to the Cowboys including you if you're a Cowboys fan. The only thing he will like is a player that he liked before they drafted that player. He liked DLaw leading up to the draft so now, in his opinion, that's the only thing the Cowboys have done correctly.
