What do you think the plan is?

I think we all agree Austin will be a June 1 cut. Romo, Lee, Scandrick will restructure. I think they will have to restructure Carr too. As far as Ware, I know there is always a chance he gets back to being a good pass rusher maybe even great again, but I don't think the gamble is worth his current money. I would be very shocked if he gets cut. I think if he shows ANY flexibility at all he stays. Jerry is way too loyal to aging players.
I like Ware but I do think cutting him would show some growth inJerry the GM. Pittsburgh generally would rather cut a guy a year too soon than 2 years too late as we do. What do you think they do with their roster before they start free agency?

Actually Pittsburgh is doing what we have been doing in certain places with the contracts. They have the same kind of serious cap decisions to make.

They are just fortunate enough that they have drafted better and did not have a complete disaster like we had in 2009. They handled the WR situation well, but there are some places they are paying age.

The plan is.....keep throwing crap on the wall...and hope some of it sticks... jk

I could actually support that if we actually did that. In other words, throwing player after player at an issue until you get it right. Churning over and over at a position you struggle at finding talent can work, Seattle did it for the QB.

We are selective crap tossers though.

They do. But they have gotten away from their usual ways of late. And they are paying for it.

The plan has been in place for a couple years. They have completely rebuilt the roster, mainly through the draft. They were counting on some vets carrying the team thru the rest of Romo's time. They were let down by Ratliff and Ware do to his injuries, but they seem to have a plan. Last year's draft was to get Tony his toys, now they need to fix the Defense.

They will extend Dez and TSmith and possibly Murray if reasonable. Maybe sign a big FA and a few mid level guys and continue to draft well. With the cap ballooning in the next few years, they have a solid chance to build a Super Bowl contender.

http://mmqb.si.com/2014/02/28/pittsburgh-steelers-offseason-choices-lamarr-woodley-jason-worilds/

notice THEIR GM thinks going 8-8 in two straight seasons is HORRIBLE and an EMBARRASMENT.

our gm?

meh

but then a lot of our fan base does not seem bothered either

“It’s huge for our franchise,” general manager Kevin Colbert said of this offseason at the scouting combine. “You go 8-8 in back-to-back years, it’s a huge disappointment, not only to our fans but to the organization. We feel it every day. But we have to fight through it, and hopefully we’re not talking about that next year.”

Someone needs to tell Colbert to just take a stiff drink and look in the mirror. It works. Honest.

Actually I don't agree with Austin being a June 1st cut, he's still the best WRer we have has far as I'm concerned. Plus he's a good friend of Romo's, Cowboys will find a way to keep him on the team.

They can't take 6-7 years to rebuild in this era of football. They need to figure out this whole salary cap thing. It's not like it just started.
