If MM is not re-signed and IF Kliff Kingsbury is hired as a HC elsewhere, I have a feeling DQ might consider bringing in MM to be his OC/co-HC

McCarthy will be back because that’s the path of least resistance for the Jones clan. They can rationalize the injuries and point to 2 wins against playoff teams (Tampa and Washington) and one almost (Cincy) the last 1/2 if the season.

The only fly in the ointment is Jerry most likely will only offer a 1 year deal and I can’t imagine McCarthy would go for that.

My problem isn’t bringing back McCarthy it’s the fact that if he is terrible next year they won’t get rid of him because of his contract.

Methinks it will not be amount contract money with a McCarthy return, but rather the Jones led " conditions" for McCarthy.

- Those conditions would be the Jones themselves- appointing their preferred version of an offensive player caller - ala the Kellen Moore OC type.
whereas that offense belongs/responsible for the offense ... not McCarthy.

- Shouldn't be unusual. Cowboys did the same with Kellen calling the offense instead of McCarthy - and after McCarthy's demise hiring of DC Mike Nolan, it's strongly
assumed that the front office chose DCs of Dan Quinn and Mike Zimmer ,... not McCarthy.

BTW, there was a report from ESPN Adam Sheftner that while Jerry is in favor returning McCarthy, " All of the people in the Building are Not on board with returning McCarthy "
Hmmm,.. that tends to suggest to me to guesswork that son Stephen may be one of those people.... Stay Tuned.

Im sorry people are being short sighted because we have shown some heart lately (which should be the bare minimum when your getting paid like football players do).

Its one thing to play well when your the underdog… but looking inept when your the favorite? No excuse. The GB and SF playoffs games this team was awful and unprepared.

The standard for this franchise shouldn’t be “because we played hard” give the coach a chance. MM has had chances to win with this team in the playoffs and has failed

I can’t help but to wonder what might happen with the Chicago Bears vacancy.

I can see McCarthy being offered that job and viewing it as a better option.
i could see Chiacgo for Mike per young franchise QB, and I'm guessing a front office that will give him a much stronger influence in preferred coaches, (OC and DC) and player personnel.

and i could see same for McCarthy in Jax-ville as well.

I voted that McCarthy would be offered a extension but he declines. I hope this is the case but I suspect it will be more that McCarthy will be offered an extension and he stays.

He's gone. I still fail to see how he has improved this team. Stupid mistakes, play selection, clock management and general cluelessness still plague McCarthy.
I think the criticism is getting to Jerry, so McCarthy better start working on an owner who is prone to sleep-overs.

Lance is a true Jekyll and Hyde. There are times when he throws beautiful pinpoint passes, straight perfect spirals.

Then there are times when I don't know who the receiver was supposed to be.

He's gone now. On to the next coach and the cycle will continue. A heartbreaking loss is just what Jerry needs heading into the offseason. He deserves it.

I WANT "Cowboys move on, McCarthy leaves" (so I voted for that), but I think it will be "Cowboys make offer, McCarthy returns".
:banghead:

Fitting game to end his tenure in Dallas today. Coaching malpractice all over the place

Do we have a better option?

I mean, the guy has won 12 games for us three times. I mean, "I don't like the play calling in the red zone" isn't really a case against that.

That said, we might have someone we like more.

Someone let McCarthy know Jerry just sent him a text.
