Buyers...but in the bargain bin. I like the Logan Wilson trade. I like using late round draft picks on veteran players, even over the hill washed up ones. You at least know what you're getting. Just look at a player like Clowney. You know he's not a part of your future, you know he's not an every down player, you know he's a rental, but you also know he's going to make a few plays as a rusher.
People say they're not just a couple of trades away from fixing this defense and they're right. But they're so far away from fixing this defense that you can't possibly hope to just hit on draft picks. To me using day 3 picks to acquire veteran role players, even as a rental, and saving your day 1-2 picks to infuse young talented rookies into your roster is the way to go.
I look at the 2025 draft for instance and wonder how much better off Dallas would have been trading away their 6th for say a Logan Wilson then rather than selecting Ajani Cornelius? Maybe M. Fitzpatrick instead of Jaydon Blue with their 5th? I recognize that these veterans would come with contracts and financial obligations, but it just seems like a better use of resources. Drafting a 6th round player, taking the time to develop them, and then keeping them under contract seems like too big of a task for this organization.
