What does Dallas lose by starting Lance on Sunday?

The fact of the matter is that we have nothing to lose by playing Lance and learning exactly what we'll need to do with him. If he's as poor as many of us seem to believe, perhaps cutting him wouldn't be such a bad idea. No point in having him use up valuable space a better QB might use. In the end, a better QB should easily come in handy.

Dallas has plenty of regular season tape on Cooper Rush as Daks back up . But with a starting OL some regular season WR’s and Dowdle at RB why not get regular season tape on Lance and start him Sunday .

What does Dallas lose by starting Lance and letting him have the entire 4 quarters . I remember a couple of seasons ago they gave Will Grier the entire last preseason game to showcase his talents knowing they were cutting him .

Remember a Dallas loss and a win by the 49ers in Arizona and the 49ers draft after Dallas not before .
Big mistake on Lance's part if he plays. We'd get all this offseason to re-live his awful game.

From all the PCs Monday it sounded to me like there were hints he might play.

Which I bet is a disease, but we'll see.

Nothing,...the Cowboys lose nothing by starting him. But we don't gain anything either. Believe me,...they already KNOW what they have in Lance and its not much at all. He was worth a gamble when we traded for him although I would have liked it to be more of a later round pick we gave them, but we lost the gamble. It happens. Start him, not start him,....really doesn't matter any more. He is soon to be down the road anyway and known as an x Cowboy. He isn't even really a NUMBER 2 option on a good team.

You would have to ask him.

th

Maybe something will come out after the season why Lance didn't see the field more.
It involves $$$$$

In that scenario (tied at 7-10) Dallas gets the pick before SF in round 1 due to lower Strength of Schedule. SF would pick before Dallas in Round 2, however. Head to head has no meaning in the draft order for record tiebreakers.
RB1 or RG1 will still be there.

Who even cares who plays QB at this point. Dallas must have the weakest QB room in the NFL. A system QB masquerading as a franchise QB with the contract to boot; a back-up QB who gets exposed against a quality opponent; and a developmental QB whom the team doesn’t even want to play against live competition because (1) he sucks or (2) they want to retain him for less dollars.

Great job GM Jerry!

Round after round John Lynch stealing your lunch $ at the draft . Quinn will be resting players no question .
It won't matter. Before Dallas or after Dallas. If Lynch sees a player he likes, he'll just trade up, right in front of Dallas, like always. And Jerry and Stephen will sit there doing nothing and watch a game changing player slip away from them.

Agree with this.
It might even be that "nothing from nothing equals nothing" Never fear, Jerruh's on it.

I don't think he can help himself with a good game, but his NFL career could be over if he plays badly...he should fake an injury....act like he tore a muscle off the bone and have surgery. Worked for Dak...lol

Why was he worth a gamble? That really doesn't make sense.

We might gain a better draft pick.

Like always? He became GM in 2017. How many times has he traded up in front of the Cowboys? I've looked at the draft results from all those years and I don't see one trade where the 49ers jumped in front of the Cowboys.

My bad. Not necessarily SF but league wide there's a lot of aggressive GMs who manipulate the board to get their guy. Our FO lets the draft come to them and winds up with the Tyler Guytons, Taco Charltons or even Byron Jones' of the world. Being aggressive is something the Jones don't have the stomach for.

the only thing lost would be knowledge of how good/bad he is, currently only witnessed in practice.
