What does Lucky Whitehead bring to the football team?

He may be a fine young man but what exactly does he bring to this football team? Is there nobody on anyone else's practice squad or a FA that could actually be more valuable than Lucky? Perhaps I have missed his value on special teams coverage units but as a receiver or return man he is virtually worthless. There has to be another football player on earth that can contribute more to this team no?

I think someone feels he has the speed to take one to the house , if he ever gets the chance. On the contrary it would be nice to see a starting position outside the 20, or an actual punt return of more than fair catch / less than 10 yards

So you've determined that he is worthless as a returner after his 1 career punt return and 1 career kick-off return?

As a WR you've determined that he is worthless based on 2 targets with Weed as the QB?

People asked the same about Harris also.
At one point in time, I am sure some asked or wondered, who in the heck is Tony Romo.

I understand what you are asking / saying. But this has been debated until it was deflated...oh wait, that is for a NE thread...LOL...

We should have place him on ps. Harris wasn't much to keep but we let him go. Those special teams ace that can bring something on offense is hard to find

Half the board keeps banging on the guy yet he hasn't had many opportunities yet so I gotta ask, what did he do so wrong that warrants all this animosity?

He's a rookie, that means there will be a few growing pains. I see potential for a home run if you can get the ball to him in space, more so than one of the possession receivers that we have. A lot of our guys just catch the ball and then go down, we need a few that can take it to the house and Lucky appears to have that "potential."

Inconclusive, needs more reps...

People see Harris scoring TDs in NY and now it's "we should've kept him", yet before that most of this board was glad to see him go.

Too early to make a judgement on the kid. I hope he turns into a Devin Hester. But who knows.

He's just another small school prospect that people want to hype up. Small-school speed does not always translate to NFL speed - see AOA.

What hype?

I don't recall anyone mentioning Whitehead leading up to the draft.

And the only reason people thought he might make the roster is because of a. spagnola b. Because we didn't have any talent at the 4/5/6/7/8/whatever WR roles in camp.

Most people think he's a nothing. Just a body. There because we need someone to be the fifth receiver.

I think he is only looked at as a guy who can run a bubble screen, and I think about 90 percent of the league has figured out how to defend a bubble screen. I'd use him like they used Dunbar. Seems to have the same skillset for the most part.

Who exactly is hyping him up? The majority of the times he's mentioned it's someone dogging him.

I don't care.

He is number 53.

Why he continues as number 53 is the only relevant question.

I'd bet its they like something that they see in practice by him. The ability to be a good PR, but right now they don't trust him to catch the ball and secure it. And I suspect that they are worried if they cut him another team will sign him and see him develop.
