i like to say elevate everyone around him and put them in position to succeed instead of make better which make it sound like a tangible thing that u can track statistically. basically the opposite of dak prescott. while jerry is talking about making the offense a “dak friendly” system a true franchise quarterback is the system...one elevates every one around him while dak need every one around him to elevate him which is why they have no money invested in the defense. really a true benefit of a franchise qb is not have to invest 75% of ur resources into the offense like the cowboys have done.
Like how Romo made Laurent Robinson better than he ever for 1 year.
If a pass rusher requires a double/triple team to keep him out of the backfield, the other pass rushers now get less attention which means fewer/worse blockers.IMO, varies by position but basically making life easier for your teammates.
QB - can adjust plays, accurate passes to keep WRs safe or running in the same direction, etc...
LB - is similar, tipping off others to what's coming, getting them in better positions,
DE - disruptions, shutting of their side of the field
If you need a recent example, when Amari is on he can dominate a secondary, giving his QB easy targets and other players opportunities they wouldn't have otherwise. Pre-Amari this offense was *historically* bad... him being on the field made this thing workable.
True. They're just statements you can't prove or disprove based upon your agenda.
Like "eye test", "garbage time", "clutch", "team cancer", etc. They mean whatever you want them to mean.
I think he arguably made Miles Austin much better than he was too....not that he wasn't a good player. Same goes for T Will.Like how Romo made Laurent Robinson better than he ever for 1 year.
So Peyton made Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne better?Payton Manning, Dan Marino, and John Elway all elevated their teams in a big way.
Dallas fans like myself? You know what the answer is, a QB who takes JAGs, average players , PS and scrubs at just about every position on the O and wins games, or a game with the playoffs on the line or games the team shouldn't win with the players they have and doesn't use those players as some excuse for their failures. QB's that elevated other players Marino, Montana, Elway ,Staubach, Bradshaw, Kelly,Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Mahomes, Luck, Wilson to name a few. Ok of course you already knew this and you are posting that somehow Dak elevates other players or that Cooper was some Jag (just keeps getting deeper) that needed Dak to to help him elevate his game. Dak needs top 2 or 3 players at every position to elevate his game and every Dak fanboy knows this. Can Dallas win a Superbowl with Dak , yes as long as every player on Offense is top 3 and the Defense is top 5 in scoring allowed.. It is really funny to listen to all the excuses and prop stats that are used to try justify Dak to elevate to him to some level above good. I do not remember hearing all the excuse about the above QB's because they made/make the players around them better and any football knowledgeable person knew or knows it and I am sure you do too but just can't bring yourself to admit Dak can't do that even with feeble attempts to degrade other players . Dallas fans like yourself will have 4 or 5 more years to lament over Dak's failures, I just hope all the whining and excuses stop and he doesn't kill off another crop of coaches. Maybe when Jerry is 6 feet deep someone who knows football will see the light.
So why didn’t he make Roy Williams better?I think he arguably made Miles Austin much better than he was too....not that he wasn't a good player. Same goes for T Will.
But for sure Robinson. That's a lock.
I think D Ware made those around him look good too, btw
Just because a QB helps certain players doesn't mean he has the same effect on all of them. There's so much going into it.So why didn’t he make Roy Williams better?
OH OH sounds like your saying Dak makes players around him better....You in TROUBLE!.I've heard this used to describe guys like Tom Brady and Russell Wilson. But how exactly do you gauge someone making another player better? Did Joe Montana make Jerry Rice better? Did Troy make Michael Irvin better? I've always had a problem grasping this. Because if I go by the stats...........
In 14 games in 2016 Amari Cooper in 14 games had 48 receptions on 96 attempts for 680 yards while averaging 14.2 yards a catch.......
In 2017 prior to getting to Dallas in 6 games he had 22 catches on 31 targets for 280 yards at 12.7 yards a catch and a touchdown. Safe to say he was going to have a even worse year.
Comes to Dallas and in 9 games has 53 catches on 76 targets at 13.7 yards a catch and 6 Touchdowns.
Season after has 79 catches on 119 targets at 15.1 yards a catch for 8 touchdowns.
On to Randall Cobb.
He's had some injuries recently...miraculously got healthy with Dallas somehow.
Maybe a bit unfair to judge him on his 2018 season with Aaron Rodgers so let's go a year prior to 2017 where he played 15 games.
66 catches on 91 targets for 653 yards on a average of 9.9 yards a catch for 4 touchdowns.
In 2019 with Dallas he had 55 catches for 828 yards on 15.1 yards a catch and 3 touchdowns.....all while being the 3rd best receiver on the team.
Anyone want to help me understand what "makes his receivers better" mean?
Of course, and they made him better. So Peyton made Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne better?
Because Roy Williams was a slant/cross runner and Romo was weak on those type throws. So why didn’t he make Roy Williams better?

Where did Williams go after Romo left?
Right out of the league.
And so far down that he couldn't cut it in the XFL.
Romo had that clown looking like a viable #2 receiver, rather than what he actually was, just #2.
I just don’t see how you can help one receiver and then get credit for it but not get credit for the receiver who plays like a bum.Just because a QB helps certain players doesn't mean he has the same effect on all of them. There's so much going into it.
Do you deny that Romo didn't seriously help Robinson? Is that even debatable in any universe?
You really seem driven on this....tear Romo down to build Dak up.
Why?
Why not just like them both.
You are 100% correct.OH OH sounds like your saying Dak makes players around him better....You in TROUBLE!.
But, you are right. Has Mississippi St. ever been ranked number 1 in any ranking without Dak Prescott as starting QB? Has any rookie QB led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record? Since 2011 no rookie QB had beaten a veteran QB in a game and Dak led his teams to wins over Aaron Rodgers, Big Ben, Kurt Cousins, Matt Stafford, etc.
"Making players around you better" is why Landry finally chose Staubach over Martin, why Jimmy chose Aikman over Walsh and Beuerlein, and why Romo conceded the starting job to Dak Prescott and all those veteran players accepted it.
Oh. I never considered those weak throws by Romo.......I don’t recall him being weak at too many throws honestly.Because Roy Williams was a slant/cross runner and Romo was weak on those type throws.
Ok it’s easy yet everyone in here has different answers lol.Of course, and they made him better.
This is really easy stuff if you remove your bias.
