What grade would you give defensive drafting under Garrett (2011-16)?

Yeah I don't know if Garrett will see his plan come to fruition but if Jaylan Smith becomes the player we pray he'll become.....this defense has a whole new outlook. And factor in next years draft will more than likely be all defense or the majority of it anyway? This defense is a year or two away.
1 or 2 years....so we're approaching a decade to rebuild this thing? you and erod have to be trolling us.

That 11-5 team was full of aging, declining players. He got rid of that crap and got younger.

And what has he done with those young players? Gone 1-12 without his darling Romo to save his butt?

And AGAIN............Garrett doesnt acquire players here.

How does Carolina do without Cam Newton and Greg Olsen?

How does Seattle do without Wilson and Baldwin?

Dallas went from the oldest team in the league to the youngest under Garrett.

That's not an overnight process. One more offseason needed.

Not saying he's an in-game genius, but he did rebuild a roster, even if he didn't pick the exact players, by convincing Jerry to stop with the declining veteran nonsense.

I'm not claiming Garrett to be any all-time great coach. I do know he inherited a steaming pile of farm animal droppings.
He inherited a team a year, one year, removed from a second round playoff exit.

You know, the same round that he gets an insane and immense amount of credit for getting to just once?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...rett-lack-of-turnovers-led-to-rob-ryan-firing

"The Bears had 44 takeaways. We had 16. That's 28 more opportunities with the ball," Garrett told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram from the Senior Bowl. "Give me some of those 28 opportunities. That's something that we really sat back and thought a lot about, had a lot of discussions about -- what's the best way to try to achieve that, and then, 'OK, you want to do that, now who are the guys who can help implement that?' "

The defense has had all the blame since Garrett has been here. Even the lack of offensive production was attributed to the defense, when it came or comes to Garrett.

The fact that the Bears are mentioned here is telling, because it is what led to the shift in 4-3 and Kiffen and Marinelli being here. And they still can't force TOs.

It was the same story last year. The difference between last year and two years ago is the offense of this team finally put pressure on opposing offenses to keep pace. But with Romo gone last year, them trying to get TOs against offenses that weren't at all pressures to score in bunches and take risks was non-existent. I remember Hardy getting an INT in red-zone territory and they just came through with FG.

The only time they even scored in the red-zone was that time the Commanders basically let them score as a result of strategy.

Garrett is the worst coach in the NFL bar none.

Biggest difference when talking about other offensive-minded head coaches like Payton.

Garrett could not field an offense that could ever put up enough points to lose a 45-43 type shootout.

That kind of thing has happened once, the Denver game a few years ago.

And what was when Callahan took the OC playcalling duties and was changing the script. Dez was running drag routes that whole game.

Lol so he replaced it with younger crap. Id take that 2010 defense over the current trash we have now.

Garrett went 13-5 a couple of years ago, lest you forget.

I dont forget anything. And what did YOU learn from the fact that we were 13-5 with a healthy Romo and 1-12 without him? Did ANY of that give you a hint about why this team wins ballgames or the quality of the team around Romo?

Well I'm sure every team would get substantially younger if u subtract the two oldest players

Most wouldn't be affected that much. The Cowboys weren't that affected by getting rid of Brookings and James because there were a lot of other old guys still there.

The only old guys here are Romo, Witten, and Free. Lee, Dez, and Scandrick are in that next group. But mostly, they're really young guys all around.

The backup quarterbacks were an embarrassment (as most are), and the defense couldn't hold up. But the story is MUCH bigger than just 1-12.

Lost to Drew Brees in overtime.
Lost to Russell Wilson by one point.
Lost to Philly in overtime.
Lost at New York by 7.
Lost at Tampa by 4.
Then it just became pointless.

Oh, and Dak Prescott just lost by one point to a two-time world champion.
