What will happen if CD and Parsons both decide not to sign extensions after this year both would be eligible for FA after 2025. Would we trade one to begin the 25 season then franchise the other or do we play the season out hoping to sign one or both.

This is all hypothetical but if we don't sign CD this year this is what could possibly happen.
They are both going to hold out. And rightfully so!!!

They picked up Parson's 5th year so he can't be a free agent until 2026. But if CeeDee does not sign an extension this year, I would put him on the trading block. In fact, I would have tried to get something done well before the draft so I could trade him and draft a WR this year to replace him if he is unwilling to sign..
Honestly. That’s what I thought was going to happen. They’re dumb waiting for Justin Jefferson to get his contract.

CeeDee should have been signed in March of last year. He would have been under 30m$. Right now the price is closer to 33m$, and waiting until after JJ & Chase will probably put it over 35m$. Waiting until next offseason would put it closer to 40m$.

Last year it would have probably been 25-27m$. More than AJ but just under Adams & Hill, as he was a 1300 yard receiver without first team all-pro. The only risk in signing him early was if he’d fall apart physically, which didn’t seem like a likely risk. The 27m$ extension would start at the same time as the 40m$ one would. Theres only two reasons he wouldn’t have been signed long ago

We slapped the franchise tag on one one year and on the other the other year and then try to get a boatload of draft picks for them but if they wanna play chicken with the Joneses there's all kinds of tags franchise tags transition tags the 5th year options if they don't sign we just hold them hostage until they we get maximum trade value and hopefully we send them to a bad team for their attitude we put these suckers on a bad team and then they can really complain with a fan base that actually doesn't get to the playoffs only to complain about losing in the playoffs....

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought a team could use one of each tag (transitional and exclusive/non-exclusive) for a total of two each season.
Just one of them. Besides, a Transition tag makes no sense for Lamb or Parsons. Either player would be poached off that tag in a heartbeat. And BTW, if Jerry decides not to match the offer and let him go, Dallas gets nothing in return.

I'm hoping they don't tag Lamb, unless it's with the intent to work out a deal. This isn't Pollard or Shultz here, tagging lamb next year is going to be closer to 25M. That just hurts the team if he plays on a tag. It saves Jerry's bank account money, but eats up way more cap space than if they just worked out a deal.

We need to sign both. They are the franchise cornerstones.
They really should sign CD this year, and Parsons next year so that they're staggard. That's what I assumed the plan was when they signed Diggs the year prior. Sadly, Cowboys cap management is pretty straight forward.

don’t forget Bland and Martin and Dlaw. Next year could be ugly.

I think Dak is the odd man out unless he proves himself worthy. If he does we will lose a lot of familiar faces.
Let them both walk, neither help us win big games, hell, they both disappear in big games. Better to not have them killing our cap.

when/what team has that happened ? Franchise tagging two separate players (exclusive/non-exclusive) in the same year ?

https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/nfl/what-does-franchise-tag-mean-nfl-bm06/#:~:text=The franchise tag is a,hit with the franchise tag.
I don't think any team has ever tagged two players during the same season. I thought that a team could use one franchise tag (either exclusive or non-exclusive but not both) on one player and a transition tag on another. No team can can use an exclusive tag and a non-exclusive tag in the same season. All I am saying is that it is possible to use either the exclusive/non-exclusive tag on one player and the transitional tag on another. It might not make sense for a team to do it but I think it is allowed by the rules.

Yeah, oh if only there were pro bowl quality WR's in the draft we could have replaced this rebuilding hot mess of a team with

There’s the alternative of paying them what they’re worth. Other teams make financial commitments to players they value. Micah and CeeDee have done nothing except play well and you’re calling them “suckers” and suggesting they be held “hostage”. If this is how any team treats their top producing players why would any player want to play for them? Why would any capable coach want to coach a team that goes about treating players in the manner you’re suggesting? The Cowboys should be concentrating on defeating the players on the other 31 teams. Not their own players. Your notion of handling personnel will quickly result in the Cowboys becoming the kind of “bad team” you’re threatening to send Micah and CeeDee.

We would lose them and get nothing in return. That's Jerry's MO.

Not any more. In 2020, they changed the rules where you can only use one per offseason.

Had to look that up, did not know.

CeeDee is a must sign. Best player on the team.
