A lot of guys will be having a blast in here with their anti Cowboys agenda.
We're loving getting our @@@@@ whipped on national TV against the same team that has knocked us out of the playoffs the last 2 seasons.
YAHOOOOOO Happy days are here again!!!!
Man get real .............jeez.

Nothing's really going to happen. The FO will just rearrange a few other pieces and we'll continue to cruise in comfortable mediocrity. Just like how years after Parcells left, it was like he was never there, the same with Romo, the same with Dak. We'll be complaining about whatever new faces come in as we hit a 2nd round exit.

There is NO other successful football org that operates like we do.

Now, in all fairness, neither McCarthy or Dak are terrible enough with the talent around them to have this season imploded on itself. To the dismay of the logical fans amongst us, they'll probably win just enough games to keep Jerry happy and hopeful and we all get screwed again.

But what happens if the season goes sideways? Do they even consider pulling Dak for Lance? Once you do that, there is no coming back from that, you have to move Dak in the offseason. I don't think Jerry wants any part of that. Would McCarthy try to make the move and have Jerry overrule him?

If the season goes sideways, the smart move would be to bench Dak and play Lance and see what you have. Stop worrying about 2024. If Dak and McCarthy can't make it work this year, thinking that next year will be different is dumb. It's bandaid pulling time if this season implodes on itself.

If we had competent leadership in the GM office, they'd be planning, even quietly, the process of what to do if this goes sideways - how they handle the QB spot, what to do about the coaching staff, etc. There is no reason if this season is a dud, especially if things implode and they miss the playoffs, to bring back either Dak or McCarthy.

PS - Another fear. I like Quinn. But I also think if Jerry is forced to **** can McCarthy, he'll retread Quinn as the HC. Another bad decision in the making.

This was a prove it year for Dak and MM. With KM gone its 100% on them.

Jerry will give them both every opportunity to redeem themselves.

If MM is fired it will be late in the season or when absolutely all mathmatical hope is gone.

Lance isn't likely ready. We can't throw him to the wolves. That has been tried and failed. Our only hope is to develop him this year and next off season and then go in blind. It sucks but he can be ruined if he's sent out too soon.

Next year would likely be Quinn as HC and Lance getting his shot. Worst case we are putrid and in the hunt for a qb next draft.

I really think it depends on the situation. Rush seems like the guy who gets you through a couple of games while the starter is out. He's not a guy who can realistically start for an extended period of time though, hes simply too limited in his physical abilities.
I agree. Rush is NOT the long term answer. I would hope to get Lance some reps.

I actually think Dallas rights the ship against this San Diego dee that I personally dont think is that strong.
So my opinion is the timetable for the possibility of the OP to occur is pushed past this week and then the bye week.
IF it were to happen this week then all my bets are off.
But regardless of if/when it may exactly occur and what would be the primary trigger, are valid OP questions.

But whenever it "may" happen, I can assure you I'll have my popcorn ready while watching it all unfold if all or some of the OP's speculation proves true.

Get cha popcone reddy.

I have to think that Moore has a plan for Quinns defense since he knows it so well

If Chargers start out hot and Dak goes in the crapper it will an interesting bye week
Depends which defense shows up.
Moore, remember his offense did not fair so well against good defenses.
And no, Herbert is not as good… yet.. as advertised…

Nothing will happen because Jerry doesn't have his "HC in training" this time around. If KM was still here Jerrah might have gotten rid of MM.

GOT an uneasy feeling about this week. kellen coming back with familiarity and Cowboys d showing a shaky secondary suddenly, the team kinda shell shocked from last week and Chargers have a decent defense with pass rush capabilties. could be a lil unraveling about to take place. smh

  • Quinn is not a head coach, he is a good DC.
  • McCarthy is a better head coach than this season shows, but his offensive changes are blowing up in his face and will get him fired if it continues.
  • Dak appears broken since his foot injury. I think he is done here. He may get moved on and get back to form on another team, but his days as a Cowboys QB are basically over. They will move on from him when they can, and he needs a fresh start which has helped lots of players in the past.
  • I think teams with physical offensive lines are going to give this team fits all year, and they likely lose 6-7 games as that's exploited
  • In addition, Gilmore looks almost done, and the injury to Diggs exposed a real depth weakness at CB
  • The loss of Vander Esch will hurt as they completely lack LB depth, a huge mistake not to address after Overshown's injury in preseason
  • And so much more ...

defense knowing the offense feels like a bigger advantage imo

They won't. They'll win just enough games to back into the wild card and fans will be, "I BELIEVE!!!!!"

Then the cycle will continue next year as it has for last 15 years.

The real problem Moore presents is his knowledge of Dak. Nobody knows what gets to Dak better than Moore. You can bet he relayed that to their DC.

They dont know the offense because it is a different and better QB

You think Moore is doing the same stuff with Herbert as he was with Dak?
No way
fair enough. he knows kellens tendencies and concepts. and i don't think knowing how quinn likes to play defense is a bigger advantage.

if it starts, then its going to snow ball and its going to be a tough off season. MM will for sure be fired. he asked for the control of offense and then failing to produce. in Jerry's mind this is a stacked team and should be superbowl ready. Quinn will not survive as much a favorite as he maybe. not many of the players will be cut. Gilmore and Cooks will be let go. Jerry thinks he has the roster to compete and the problem is coaching.
